Baby Shower for #2? |
|
I was just wondering, would it be ok to throw a baby shower for the second child being born? and if so is it odd to have the parents-to-be-again throw it? i dont have much family here where i live and its mostly my husbands family. but i dont think that they would throw a baby shower for me. we also dont want to find out the sex of the baby till after s/he is born. we know a few gifts that we can put on the registary, but we arent sure about the decor. any suggestions?

1. brendalee (5064) | 3 years ago | I see no problem with having a shower for the second baby. I had one for my second grandchild. Its nice to get new things for any baby, plus sometimes things get stained and ruined with your first child. As for the decor, I would check out a few baby supply websites and see what they offer. I have seen many styles that could be for both a boy or a girl. I did a frog theme for my grandson as his mom liked frogs. Of course, that would probably be better for a boy and luckily she had a boy.lol. Good luck and congrats on the future new baby.

I recently gave birth with my second daugther practically we still can used the old stuff of our first daugther which is now 4 year old. But still baby shower is very enjoyable. if you one good luck and enjoy....

3. silvermoonmyst (832) | 3 years ago | I dont see a problem with it! Im on baby number two, and never had a baby shower for my first. You can have a party to welcome your surprise and thats what is really fun. A cake and some games, getting together to celebrate the new baby. Its a wonderful thing to do!

4. Joey322 (212) | 3 years ago | well, i was always told that you usually only have one shower for the first baby.
is there really a lot of baby stuff that you need since it's the second one??
i was going to say that i could see having one if you had a boy and are now having a girl, but since you don't necessarily have a reason...well, i probably wouldn't have a shower, especially if you were throwing it for yourself.
just seems a bit tacky....sorry to be harsh...
happy baby though!!! congrats!
take care.

Joey322 (212) | 3 years ago | i guess i'm outnumbered!!! i'm just one of those people that enjoys a party, but i wouldn't want anyone thinking,"gosh, i bought her baby stuff the first time, do i have to buy her something every time she gets pregnant??" i have a tendency to think about other people's perceptions too much.
have fun with your party and have a good timE!

5. fluffyfrog (2613) | 3 years ago | I know a lot of people frown upon having a second baby shower. But I think a baby shower is more a celebration of a new life and spending time with your loved ones then gifts anyway. You can write on the invitations, "no gifts necessary" if you are afraid someone will get offended. As for gifts to put on the gift registry, you can always opt for yellows and greens for your decor and clothing:)

6. cjthedog64 (1542) | 3 years ago | If the 2nd baby is the first one for one of the parents, I could see having a shower. It's fun to get the attention. I could also understand having one if it's been a long time inbetween babies and you don't have any baby stuff anymore. Or if you've had all boys and are finally having a girl - you'd need some girl stuff. But just for a regular second baby, I don't think it's needed. Maybe having some sort of party, but nothing where you're "asking" for gifts.

7. wmaharper (1580) | 3 years ago | We had a baby shower for our second one (even though it was another boy). Dont think of it as a baby shower, you don't even have to call it that, we referred to it more as a celebration of your babies birth. Your second baby is no less important than your first, your first had a party celebrating his impending birth, so should your next.(if you ask me). ALot of people frown on it, but I think it has become more socially acceptable. I would try and see if you can have it at a friends house, and if they will "officially" throw it for you, lest others may think you are being tacky. I actually had 2 baby showers for my second one, our church threw us a surprise one, and since they didn't know what to get us, they had a money tree.. it was great, we got a double stroller with it! Don't worry about what other people may think, if you want to celebrate your next baby, do so.. and congrats on the new baby!!!!

8. lovemydsdominik (262) | 3 years ago | I am also pregnant with our second baby and was kind of wondering the same thing, because there is till stuff that we will need for the new baby, especially if it's a girl (because our first was a boy) however, I think I've came to the concluson that a woman should be able to have a baby shower with each pregnancy if she would like to, after all, it is a different baby. I would register for the necessities ou know you are going to need and maybe some gender neutral clothes, I found plenty of them before I found out #1 was a boy (I just wanted to shop!) As far as the decor for the nursery, maybe do winnie the pooh, I know a lot of people do it, but it is totally gender neutral, cute,a nd you won't have a problem finding anything.
