Do your kids send Thank You notes/cards?

From the time my oldest, now 21, was born, I began to send out thank you notes in his name for gifts he received. As he got older, he began to have more of a hand in them...first drawing pictures to go with them, then copying notes I would write out for him, and then eventually getting to the point of composing them for himself. I have taken all three children through that same process, and now they all send out thank you notes on their own after receiving a gift.

Good for you. Yes children should be taught and encouraged to send thank you notes. By allowing them to take part in the activity and making it fun you are building a solid foundation for future behavior. A lot of parents do not take the time to envolve the children in such activities. Thus, they grow up either expecting someone else to do it for them or not doing it at all.

i don't have kids, but my mother had my sister and i color and create thank you cards that she addressed to whomever gave us something, a habit i still keep.

my sister had her 3 kids make thank you cards.

i do not buy thank you cards, as they are pricy on my almost nonexistant budget. i can make a very competent card either with or with out a computer.

having kids make cards is a good education in manners.
