Fast Cars | | | | Speed is one of the major contributors to the number of traffic accidents, and often times fatal. While it's true the drivers who are reckless and/or under the influence are usually, if not always, at fault, do you suppose the car manufacturers need to take on some responsibility as well? What I'm trying to say is - do we really need cars that are capable of going over 120km/hour on our roads? How often do we honestly need to go at such a high speed? I certainly can see the logic in supplying cars with that kind of power to the police force, emergency life rescue vehicles such as ambulances and fire trucks; however, I can't seem to understand the rationality in making these fast cars available to the general public. In car commercials and advertisements, they never fail to point out how "fast" their cars can go, as if it's a positive attribute to the vehicle. Why? I just feel that, perhaps, the car manufacturers should reconsider their priorities when equipping their cars with certain features. By reducing the speed at which a vehicle is capable of travelling could possibly be another way of lowering the number of fatal traffic accidents. There are so many careless drivers on our roads already - we really don't need any more "help" in this area. What do you think? Would it be feasible? You don't have to agree with me - I'll still appreciate your comments and thoughts on this;) | | | | | | | | | | CR England Now Hiring Hiring Inexperienced& Experienced Drivers. | | Pups2hug, you know what, I don't know why I'd never thought of this. It's true, if the speed limits are to be recognized, then we don't really need cars that can travel above that speed limit. It still wouldn't stop people from speeding in a slow zone, but it would keep people from traveeling at those death defying speeds that aren't helpful to anyone, that aren't really legal anywhere anyway. | | | | | | | Pups2Hug (338)

| | Exactly my point. Glad you understand and feel the same way:) I only wish the car manufacturers will eventually realize this. | | You are injecting a sensible argument. However, I believe that this idea will not sell to the manufacturers. They are trying to project an image of being in the business of producing the more powerful, more stable and much faster cars. This will come as a government regulation which requires cars for the use of the general public, having maximum speeds of 50 kph. But if travel shall involve being on a highway covering province per province, it becomes illogical to have a service car which runs this slow. But maybe, 80 kph maximum speed will be just fine. It sounds sensible enough because this is still a manageable speed if carried in highways. Another law to be passed, which will be of great help, will be to require those buying cars to have a sufficient garage area, those who cannot show any parking space can in no way buy a car. There are quite a number of people buying cars, and then they just park those at the sidestreet. This is an extremely bothersome practice which must be eradicated. Aside from being at high speeds, reckless drivers are usually found to have taken drugs to some degree, or an alcoholic beverage. Laws have been passed to put this bad habits to a halt, but people are just ignoring it. It appears that the penalty charged for people caught in a state like this while driving, is much too easy to handle. Maybe it is high time that the penalties be up to a level which will really hurt. | | | | | | | Pups2Hug (338)

| | Pups2Hug that is such a wonderful thought, I dunno why something like this didn't occur to me before!! We really don't need speedometers which go up to 120 when we aren't gonna use them on our regular highways. Of course we aren't gonna be in a race either so I think 80 or 90 should be the max limit. As far as I've seen I think 75/80 mph is the maximum allowed speed limit on US highways. It definitely is tempting to go at a higher speed when your car is able to go that fast. I think your suggestion to the car manufacturers is brilliant! Reducing the speed a car can go would probably be directly responsible in curbing the number of accidents. | | | | | | | Pups2Hug (338)

| | You're absolutely right - if the temptation/availability is there, people will go for it. By not even equipping the cars with the ability to go that fast, people simply just can't. Thanks for seeing it my way;) And do drive safely... | | | | | | | Electric Cars Find the Eco-Friendly Car You Need. Electric Cars at shopautoweek! www.shopautoweek.com/Green | add comment | | | |

| | The majority of the accidents in France are caused by alcohol and drug, and I find thaht inadmissible! If somebody commits suicide because he/she drove too fast: never mind! but if he/she kill somebody he/she would merit the same punishment that a murderer... but I disagree with the fact that good drivers should pay for bad ones | | | | | | | Pups2Hug (338)

| | I can clearly understand your frustration with those irresponsible drivers, and I'm totally with you on that. Yes, it's one thing if they hurt themselves, but to hurt or even kill another innocent human being is the same as murder.
