Storage for eyelets and brads |
| |
| If you are like me, you have collected a ton of small things for scrapbooking, like eyelets and brads. I needed a place to store them so I could easily find them and they would be all together in one place. I got to thinking about what I could use and then it came to me. I had an empty bead box with lots of compartments in it! Everything I have fit nice and neat into it and now when I need to use an eyelet or a brad, or some other small item, it is nice and neat and all in one place. I can easily transport it from point A to point B when I am going to my friend's house or to a scrapbook store crop. On www.gather.com, some of the other people there said they used old fishing tackle boxes, tool boxes, even spice jars for their small items. All of which are great ideas. What are some of the things you use to hold your small pieces for scrapbooking? | | | | | |

| | I used to use the old bead boxes, but there got to be too many boxes all over the place. Then I went to this store that was having a retirement sale, and I took it's almost like one of those bead storage boxes, except i has four tiers with four drawers. This thing is great. It's not very portable, but it has tons of little compartments that I put buttons, eyelets, snaps and brads in, I also put some confetti in there too. I also recently bought a tool box kinda thing from a hardware store, where has little drawers about five per level, and each drawer can pull out, so you can transfer from room to room if you like. I love it! | | | | | | |

| | Personally I love my tackle boxes! I keep so many things in them. When I am going to a crop I transfer what I need into small travel sized tackle boxes. I also love those nut and bolt sorters the little drawers work perfect for so many embellishments. | | | | | | |

| | Tackle boxes are definitely cheaper than my bead boxes. I just had an empty one here at the house that I had bought and figured I might as well put it to use. I'd like to get another drawer thingy, but it will have to wait until I actually buy a house and have a room for nothing but my craft, sewing, and scrapbooking stuff. There is just no room in this tiny apartment for much more! We are already bursting at the seams. LOL!! | | | |

| | PS Garage sales are the best place to pick these things up at people are always getting rid of them. | | | |

| | I think my husband is dreading yard sale time as I tend to go overboard with supplies when I find them! LOL I just don't understand why, though. I mean, just because half of it is stored in the basement, and the rest is in every room of the house...LOL!! | | | |

| | Although they are harder to transport, at home I have a collection of baby food jars that I use to divide up my eyelets, brads, and any other small items I may have around for my scrapbooking needs. I keep them all on a gerber babyfood jar holder (lazy susan type of deal). That way they are always easy to find and I have everything I need organized. When I go to crops, I have a portable bead container that I keep a minimal amount of items in. | | | |

| | Thanks! Unfortunately, we are out of babies at the moment, so I don't have any jars. | | | |

| | I have to recommend watch maker tins! OMG they are amazing! I love them. They are metal tins with a bunch of small tins inside that have clear covers so you can view what's inside. They look great on your desk too and you can alter them if you wanted. I still have a few plastic trays that I got from the dollarstore but these are so much nicer and you can take them individually or the whole case will fit in your bag. Here's a photo that i've found of them. You can find them at jewerly stores I think. I paid about $12 for my med size one. http://www.dropshots.com/... | | | | | | |

| | I keep mine in small tackle boxes. They come in many different sizes and shapes these days. I use tackle boxes for so many things such as my sewing supplies. I have a large one for that. I am so glad that you got started on mylot. I did not see your invitation to become a friend till today. I hardly ever check them as I get so many each day. | | | | | | |

| | I just used a craft box. It's just like a tackle box, but the boxes are a little smaller. Maybe about an inch, and there about 20 boxes in all. I love it. I keep all kinds of stuff in it. Eyelets, brads, jewels, scrapbook extenders, etc! | | | | | | |

| | I am not a scrapper, but I do use small containers to store my small items in. I keep prescription bottles to store beads, sequins, glitter, etc. They are compact and handy, most of all....free! | | | | | | |

| | I use two items for all of my small items for storage. The first is the drawer units used for nuts and bolts storage. This I use for seasonal small items that I don't use everyday. The second is a system that I am still organizing. I bought a whole bunch of small watchmaker tins on clearance from a store online and a large magnetic write on wipe off board at Walmart. I hung the magnetic board on the wall, put magnets on the back of the watchmaker tins and then started organizing the items I use most often in these tins and then hang them on the magnetic board. They are in easy reach while I scrapbook, and I can see the items so that I use them!

| | I have picked up a few boxes that will hold lots of little things here lately, too. I even found a spice rack, minus the jars for .50. I bought it because I have lots of spice jars filled with scrapbook goodies! | | | |
