Sounds like you will be very busy. Hubby is the painter in our home. He loves to complain about it, but loves to do the work more. I have been considering changing the color of our walls, again! I think it may just be the Cabin Fever setting in big time.

Wow! That is a huge project. We are renter's, so haven't done any remodeling, but we were allowed to paint our previous apartment. My sister works at the local hardware store, so we got a really good deal on the supplies. I don't know that the next occupants will enjoy the blue and sage green walls as much as we did though.lol
Our new apartment has tile everywhere but the bedrooms. It is good in a way because we also have a cat and a dog, but I am sooooo tired of sweeping the floor two to three times per day. In fact, my birthday is coming up, so my sister just brought me my gift.... a new vacuum! It is an Eureka "The Boss" and it does bare floors as well as carpet. it only weighs 8 lbs. You may want to invest in one when you get your flooring project complete. I love it!

Thats why I married an engineer! LOL
We do all of our own remodeling.
From carpentry, to drywall, to painting.
Sure we wnat to kill one another by the time we are done with the project but it is worth it because we know that it got done they way we wanted it done and we did it on our schedule.
Besides we have some great stories to tell and some memerable moments from each project.

I can't say I've done a lot. I have wallpapered before. I can't paint with a darn so I always let my ex do that. I just don't have the patience but I'm sure you can pull it off. I like to redecorate using pictures, pillows that kind of stuff. We are doing our familyroom right now. I can't wait till that is done. Oh my goodness! You DO have a lot to do! I imagine you are going to be very tired! But I am sure that you will also be equally satisfied after you are done. It is always nice to sit back and look at what you have accomplished.

We don't hire anyone. Even though I would like to hire a person to finish painting our ceiling in the front room...the ceiling is vaulted so, I have no clue how my partner will finish the peak when it is that high up in the middle of the room! I fear that he will fall and break his neck. But he plans on doing it this summer.
Other than that, we have always done it all ourselves. It is nice to do it our way and sometimes muddle through it. We bicker back and forth, but we get it done. LOL

Ack, I wish we COULD remodel. The apartment building managers are sticklers for not letting their tenants repaint or anything like that which is annoying. As such I'm looking into buying some pictures for the walls to try and brighten the place up instead of having this crappy off white color - Magnolia I think its called.

I'm sorry to hear that you won't be around for a while, because I've enjoyed reading and responding to your discussions, but I understand.

When you come back, make sure you have pictures of your newly decorated home to share with us so I can get totally jealous lol.

Well we did remodel our home about a couple of years ago, we had hire help to do some of the stuffs which would need experts to do it. after that, we had the kitchen floor rip out and put in tiles as well. Now that we think about it, maybe we should have rip the whole floor out and replace them with tiles. we had them paint the whole apartment also, light blue on all the walls. someone suggest green, light green or dark green, but we decided with dark blue which would be much cooler.

Good luck, its sounds like you have alot of work ahead of you. I recently got my house and had to paint every thing too. I moved in last year, I still have some more painting to do and some other work that needs to be done. Just pace yourself and don't try to do to much all at once. Here is a painting tip. When you are done painting for the day, put your brush and paint roller in plastic bags. When you are ready to paint the next day, the brush and roller will still be fresh and ready to go.

Oh dear it must be dreadful to not have your own computer and of course then you have to use your inlaws computer to put anything here on mylot. Oh dear I bet you are happy that you are getting your own home back again, it is lovely to have family members living with us for a short period but then we get sick and tired of having them in our homes after a while. Over a year ago we had our own home and yes we did some remodeling of our home and had to do the same as you are going to do, my husband did all the remodelling of the home, so if you need any tips then send me a message and I will respond to try and help you.

ok..so ur gonna be busy eventhough u may not be here at mylot!!..get ur computer soon..and as for the remodelling thing..my parents always hire people to do these things..we do it about once a year..have fun!!..and do come once in a while to mylot until u get ur comp!!..:)
