Recast Harry Potter?

I think it's the most retarded thing I've ever heard. I would stop watching the movies if they recasted Daniel Radcliffe - unless he died. I also don't think J.K. Rowling cares. Especially because there is a really good probablity that the character of Harry Potter does indeed die in The Deathly Hallows. I'm not going to repeat all the stuff over about how I think it's insane that people are seriously making a big deal over him being naked and what not 'cause I've posted under several other discussions about it. But I think if they do re-cast him it will back-fire. I think it will loose many loyal fans - like myself over something so silly.

I totally agree. Poor Daniel will be type-cast for the rest of his life. I think it took incredible guts for him to perform nude. I know I couldn't do it.
The movies will totally be a flop if they recast Harry. Replacing Dumbledore (I know it wasn't their fault) just about did me in. Even though I enjoy Ian McClennan (sp??) very much, it's just not the same.

It may be time to recast. Not because of the other roles he has played, but he is getting older and it may be necessary to go for someone a little younger if the time production for the movies continues to be years apart, although at this point it seems fine to just keep the same cast. What he has done in other things does not change his ability to continue to be a great actor as Harry Potter.

I think this is a silly over reaction. If parents seriously think their children will be influenced by this they should make sure that they don't find out about it or explain to them that he is just playing a part etc.

there should not be recats of the character artists it may ruin the film i think so.

I think people need to get over themselves. Him performing nude on stage has nothing to do with his role as Harry Potter. Absolutely nothing. If you don't want your kids to be exposed to nudity, well guess what? They don't have to see him perform on stage. No one said that had too. He's obviously the best person for the job. Recasting him will only disappoint many fans. Many of the young fans will not like the movies because the Harry they knew isn't really Harry. People will stop seeing the movies because of the recast role. Parents really take this issue too far. One role won't interfere with another.

I completely agree with you. As an actor, he's supposed to take on new and different roles from his previous ones, and that's exactly what he's doing. It's not like he's 13, doing the early movies and making this decision. He's 18 (or nearly so, right?) and making smart career choices, especially knowing this will be the last book, with the last movie to follow not long after.

If they were to replace a bunch of charactors they might as well quit the movie cuz I'm pretty sure that turnouts would be much else without our familiar charactors

I think probably Radcliffe has already played as much Harry Potter as he can. I believe the final episode has already been shot, hasn't it? or is there to be one more book?
