Are You Numb By The Announcements Of War Casualties  

Frankly, I've stopped worrying or caring about things I can do nothing about. I used to lose sleep about stuff like this, but what's the point? Unless there is something I can actually do then I just try and ignore it. I suppose if something happened to someone I actually knew then it would bring it home more.

I know what you mean. It's gotten to be a daily thing with more and more peole being killed that we don't pay it much attention anymore. It's not just you. The news media doesn't even give it the attention they did when the war first started.

Nowadays, I almost try to avoid watching tv. Because most news I hear from it are all about violence, politics and oppression. Whenever I see something like those just make me feel worried, because I think that it shouldn't have happened in the first place. We could've settled it all in a peaceful manner, instead of violence. If we only have the patience, the understanding and apreciation, I think peace can be achieved..

Oh you got that right. I dont even listen to it anymore. Im so disquisted with the whole ordeal that I just tune it out. Its just a very sad time for us. And Im just hopeing some day we will finally have some peace again. Wars dont really get us anywhere they only cause pain and sadness.

War has been going on since the days of Cain and Abel. It is a fact of life and there is really not much we can do about it. There are more than 100 wars going on in the world at any given time. We only hear about 1 or 2 in the news.

sadly agree with you..I, too , used to feel the need to honor each of those lives with a prayer or a moment of remembering...now I have to include the entire wartorn world in one prayer a day...otherwise I would have to quit my job and pray from sun up to sun down and it still wouldn't cover them all..It's a sorry state in this world when it's the norm to pass over pages of articles on the senseless killings and lives lost fighting wars...but when we see something everyday we become desensitized and it is taken off our "shock radar"...Yes, I will admit to the numbness and it makes me very sad as I know those in the middle of this chaos and killing are not numb..they very much feel the pain....God Bless Us All...

Wmg this has been part of my Life from the Age of 10, my Stepfather was in the Army and my Ex Husband to so it was always there. I used to dread going to my Car and I used to have to check it all the time. I had to teach my small Children never to go near the car till I checked it, that was my biggest worry was the Children, as all it would have taken is one knock and it would have blown up. It is very scary.

I hope I never get numb when I hear about war casualties because people are dying for us for a war that we can't win. Wars have been going on since the beginning of time and I think it is such a wast of human lives but we can't change what has happened or what will take place tomorrow. I do not think you are going numb I just think that it causes you so much sorrow that you do not want to think about it. Take care and God Bless!

I share your thoughts absolutely on this matter,in fact would go so far as to say that the longer these acts of atrocities continue the more chance there is of a terrorist group acquiring a 'dirty bomb'& that really would be something to get into a lather about!!!

I don't bother listening to the news any more. It's always about this that and the other over in Iraq. Lives are being needlessly lost and we're losing more and more soldiers each and every day in a war thats needless.

If I want to know the news, I log into my Yahoo! email account and check out the headlines. There I can pick and choose what I want to read.

I'm not saying that we should forget the war in Iraq, but I personally can't stand to listen to the news of more car bombs and more lives being lost, civilians as well as Soldiers.
