Great question? |
|
I was talking to my friend and somehow we got on the topic of Christmas. He told about how his cousin who is 10 didnt believe in Santa. My friend's dad asked "Do you believe in Jesus?" She said yes. Friend's dad replied "If you believe in Jesus, who made water into wine, what says Santa isn't real?"For some reason I found this question very interesting. I have full faith in the Bible, but its still a good question IMO. Any thoughts. THANKS!

1. michelledarcy (4382) | 3 years ago | My daughter believes that all the religious stuff is just made up stories. Thats what I tell her they are as we are religius and it is hard to explain to a 5 year old why other people believe it. I hated having to lie to her about Santa, but her grandparents and father insisted that I did, but I'm sure she really knows it isn't true.

2. chaygylmommy (1822) | 3 years ago | Very good question.:) That is a great response to a little kid when they say they don't believe in Santa. I hope my kids believe for a long time. It's so sad when the innocence is taken away from children so early these days.

| kimwong (34) | 3 years ago | lying to children is a good way to take innocence away from them, that is why I never tell them that santa exists, because that would be a lie. I do tell them to do nice things to other people and giving presents to others is a nice thing to do as is helping others in need and I feel this does wonders for their innocence

3. Starflames (125) | 3 years ago | Now-a-days things are just so much different.
I remember growing up as a child that we kids always looked forward to the coming of Santa during Christmas. I guess eventually we just figured out on our own that Santa wasn't real.
Now-a-days kids appear to be much more keen than those of times past. All we can do is try and keep the magic alive for as long as we can.

4. ReyM21 (201) | 3 years ago | Jesus is so much different from Santa Clause (St. Nicklause)-- they are two different person, but one thing in common: they give gifts. Jesus, the gift of salvation of which applies to anyone, anytime and Santa Clause, the material gift only for children and Christmas. Jeus is the Son of the Living God and what about Santa(?) he's already dead and all Santa Clauses appearing now were all impersonators.

mzz663 (1134) | 3 years ago | Yes, Jesus is so much different than santa.... God gave us the gift of his Son, Jesus. Jesus gave us the gift of his life. When my kids asked about santa, I told them santa gives us gifts as a reminder of those gifts, even though the real santa is dead, the spirit of giving gifts in remembrance is still alive.

6. applsofgld (1443) | 3 years ago | I always taught my kids the real reason for Christmas. To celebrate the birth of Jesus our Savior. But, a lot of friends did or did not like the Santa issue. I looked at it like this, kids when they are little, like the idea of a santa claus. My ex husband was santa for his company he worked for around 10 years or more. Even when the kids got old enough to know it was him, he still got kick out of doing it. We all participated. I loved santa as a kid myself. My kids grew up knowing the difference. I let them beleive in santa and when they asked questions I was honest with them about it. The same with my neice who is like my own kid too. I believe you can separate the two. We celebrate Christmas for Jesus birth. And we can have the santa too, with exchanging gifts and having santa deliver them at night with rudolph and the others. It's just my opinion. Hope I didn't chase too many rabbits.

7. CatEyes (1898) | 3 years ago | Santa Clause is a saint now, and I know there are always miracles happening around christmas time, and since saints are know for miracles I beleive in Santa. It take faith to believe in something you can not see or touch, but you just "feel" it.

8. cuddleme01 (1726) | 3 years ago | some of nephews don't believe in santa too. they heard from friends that santa does not really exist. he is just one of those stories that people make and that the people who actually put stuffs in their socks are there parents. when i was young i believed in santa and as much as possible would like the younger generation to believe that santa exists. they will eventually know later on that santa is just a story but its nice for them to actually believe that there is a person who gives gifts to good kids during christmas.i would want them to experience expecting presents for christmas from the HO HO HO santa claus.

9. littlefranciscan (4683) | 3 years ago | Since Jesus is God the Son..I dont see any comparing Him with Santa..Santa was derived from a Catholic saint..santa means "saint" and there was a Saint Nicholas..And I am sure this saint would never agree that he is equal to Jesus.

10. jazzafrazz (558) | 3 years ago | Yes, it's bizarre how people tend to think as to what's real and what's not. Not believing in santa is striking a cord which is not to long. When it come to believing in Jesus everyone believes. Santa Clause was a real person like Jesus. Except people don't think of Santa in that format. It's somewhat ashame though now that i think about it. I like to think of Santa, Mother Nature, Jesus kind like they could have been the same person, I know it's weird but, think of it if you will. Mother Nature brings us all the beauty that is natural to the naked eye. Santa had made gifts which came from the heart. Jesus, represent all the good things in our life... don't get me wrong but, I think in hindsight they all might be in some weird twisted way be the same being,....ie God!
