Do you think Daniel Radcliffe has damaged his career by starring in Equus?

I don't think so. Parent's just have this whole issue of actors, especially ones that star in a movie such as HP being all pure. They want a great role model for their children. Personally, I think it's a great move and definitely something that takes a lot of courage to do. I mean, it takes a lot of guts to do nude scenes and even more so, a lot of guts to do it in front of large audiences. Secondly, he won't always be remembered as Harry Potter for the rest of his life. So many child stars are remembered as only being one person for their career and Dan is proving that he won't be Harry for the rest of his life and he's proving that he can star in other roles.

Well it's not like he'll go nude in a Harry Potter movie. As an actor I believe he has his free will to chose what roles he wanted to play. He's got to grow up and take other roles aside from playing Harry for 5 long years. So he wants to establish a new image, an imgae of a serious actor and not just a kid actor. I think it is a good move on his part to do Equus.

hmm... i don't think i can agree with him totally. I probably understand that he's trying to breakaway from having people stereotype him as HP forever and prove that he can take on other roles. However, I feel that if he really needed to prove himself, he could wait till the end of the entire HP series. People are just going to get confused... I mean when they watch the next instalment of HP they'll be thinking Equus. And if kids saw the play too... I don't know. Just doesn't seem very right. I'm not against him taking other roles. Only if he had to go to the extreme, at least wait till the filming of HP is over. Then he can start on a clean, fresh slate if he wants to. Well, that's my 2 cents.

I honestly don't see the big deal about it. He's an ACTOR, and he can't spend the rest of his life playing Harry Potter. He has to be able to move on to more adult roles, either on stage or screen. Equus is an adult drama, and it's not something that his HP audience of children should be seeing, so one should not impact the other, in my opinion.
