When I first started this job-- there was mold on the wall next to my desk |
| |
| from a leak by the air conditioner- eventually it was fixed - only after i had an allergic reaction to it one day when it was raining really bad. My boss expected me to be here the next day when the guy came to fix it, after I was weezing and coughing the day before just from the mold and such in the air. Now that its fixed I am still coughing and weezing (although not as bad) but I am not sure what to do - I cannot leave till I find a new job but I need some advise as to what I can do while I'm here to help ease these symptoms...anyone? | | | | | |

| | I'd be going to a doctor,mold isn't good for anyone and is a leading cause of a lot of health issues,including MS.....take this matter up with your doctor and try to get a medical leave for a while | | | | | | |

| | I know that it is very bad for a number of reasons.. this is the second time I have had a reaction like this- I knew I was allergic but didn't realize it was that bad...my sister said the same thing- but then I might have to wait for disability- and i can't afford to not have money coming in. But I will talk to my dr tomorrow--thanks | | | |

| | You should really go to the doctors how do you know what it is? It probably is just allergies and they can prescribe something for it. You better take care of that. | | | | | | |

| | I have terrible allergies- was tested years ago cause I couldn't stop sneezing...I know it's something here because when i get here i'm fine - it's only after being here for a few hours that it happens, when I go home I'm fine too. Will check with my dr for sure. | | | |

| | Well I don't know what the law is like in the States, but if your situation happened in this country, a Doctor would sign you off straightaway, and if your employer even attempted to sack you because of ill health, you could take them to an Industrial Tribunal straightaway as the illness/injury was caused through work. But if that isn't the case........ well there are always anti-histamines, and other medicines to combat allergies, but most them make you drowsy, and not allowed to drive, so it may not be wise. Other than that, I don't think I an help you on this one. Good Luck - and find a new job soon! | | | | | | |

| | Going to the doctor is good advice, even with the mold problem gone, you do not know what toxins got into your system while working under those conditions. It is always good to have documentation in case this causes more problems down the road. Don't leave this job without that documentation. Your employer would need to be held responsible for not taking it seriously. Mold causes so many illnesses and can cause death in those with weak immune systems. Please, go to the doctor. | | | | | | |

| | I am sorry, I should have been more specific. I meant to get medical documentation on what it did and seemigly is continuing to do to your system. | | | |

| | Hope this I found will give you something to work with, until you can find better employment. Good luck. Type of Medicine Symptoms Treated Cough Suppressants For cough caused by nasal drainage and irritation of bronchial passages. Decongestants For nasal stuffiness, head pressure, and congestion; these will not stop drainage. Antihistamines For runny nose, sneezing, itchiness of throat and sometimes helpful for eye irritation. Topical eye decongestant/antihistamines For eye symptoms only: itching, swelling, redness. You can use single-agent products if you have just one allergic symptom, like a runny nose. Combination products are for fighting multiple allergy symptoms simultaneously. There may be as many as five active ingredients in some combination drug products, which complicates things. To avoid side-effect complications and over-treatment, we recommend a targeted approach: combine individual medications yourself based upon your symptoms at the time. Avoid "all-in-one" products which increase the risk of side-effects. Multiple drugs in a single pill or syrup may wear off at different times, too. For example, a four-hour decongestant might be combined with a six-hour antihistamine, a four-hour cough suppressant, and a three-hour pain and fever reliever (and most allergy sufferers don't even have fever or pain!) So symptoms and side-effects may go up and down all day long even when you're taking the medicine on the recommended schedule. | | | | | | |
