arent gifts FREE anyways?
so it should be free ITEM or PRODUCT or something.
you give someone a GIFT for free.
so why do shops say FREE GIFTS???

i've often wondered the same. sometimes the gifts aren't even free, if a newspaper is offering a dvd you often have to pay postage to get it. it's quicker to download the dvd online...and cheaper!

i dont understand why the put supplements in the middle of newspapers and call them free, it's part of the newspaper, especially the football on a sunday, that used to be in the back pages anyway!

i think the term "free gift" should only apply if something is actually included that's not part of the product and it should just be called a gift. the terms free and gift seem to contradict each other.

haha, exactly! it's like i saw a magazine the other day with a FREE bag attatched, it didn't say ''free bag when you buy this mag'' it just said free bag!!! ARRRGH.
