I am going to be planting every kind of veggies that I can and herbs. I do not plant a lot of flowers although I might this year in the front of our house. It has a huge slope right in the front that goes to the road and last year we had such a hard time keeping it cut and looking good that I might just cover it with somekind of flowering ground cover so we do not have to worry about it. A good ground cover is English Ivy and it has a mild aroma that is refreshing that will make it through the snow season.Pansy is a good one that can withstand cold temps but not freezing. Personally I am going with things that I don't have to replace anymore. The tiger lilly's are great and oleanders they come in different pinks. Crepe Mrytle look good, but you need to keep them cut to space provided. I love a good veggy garden. I have started mine in one of those minature greenhouse found it a Wal Mart. And plan to set them in the ground after Easter. Last year I did the yellow and zuchinni squash, but found it didn't freeze well, ended up throwing it all out! My cucumbers turned out good. But started my tomatoes too late and threw away 3 buckets of green. I had eaten too many already fried and salsa's. Going to try to can some this year, but need help on a easy receipe that dosen't require a pressure cooker. Thought about making some ketchup too.LOL We love it. Thanks for the seed catalog. Some ideas on the large ground cover are hard if you don't feel like weeding alot.

Since we are still in this trailer and room is too tight to really live I have to buy most of the plants that I would normally grow in my greenhouse (as part of my house needing rebuilt). So the seeds will be green beans, corn, pumpkin, squach, cucumbers, swiss chard, lettuce, radish, zuchini, beets, potatoe eyes, sweet tater slips, watermelon, cantelope, lima beans, and probably more. I plant flowers in the garden since the pollintors are drawn to them and therefore my garden plants. I will buy pepper, tomatoes, herbs, cabbage, marigolds that are edible and ornamental, sweet alyssum, and more. I went to the site for nature hills and signed up. They may be useful when I become a market gardener with my Willowstead Farm here.

Nigella and cornflowers for cheap and cheerful. I will be away this summer so am going to keep it basic, otherwise. Some lettuces, onion sets, leeks and garlic. I might start some pumpkins and farm them out to neighborhood kids.
