Has anyone here ever had surgery to remove a bunion?

Just wondering...I have one and want to get it removed. Wondering if the surgery works well.

Hi, yes I had it done about 10 years ago to my left foot. They shaved away the bone, stitched it up and put a temporary pin in my foot to help my big toe straighten out then it was put in plaster. I had to keep my foot up and keep the weight off it as much as possible for a month - so I had to use a crutch to walk. I got a reaction to the pin so the plaster had to come off early so they could remove it however, apart from that, it went very well. My foot is now lovely and straight, there's virtually no scarring and I'd say it was a great success. If your bunion is painful I'd strongly suggest you get it done - the surgery is painful in the short-term but worth it in the long-term.
