Which is better place to work for, in government firm or in private firm?

I am from Philippines as well, and I do like to work in Government because in that way I could help my country,although it has lower pay but it has a lot of incentives when you retired. You could get a lot of things in your retirement unlike private firms that offers few incentives only and requires you a lot of work.

Hello there friend. I believe we can earn more in the private firm. However, we could help our country more if we will be working in the government. We could be sure that workers of government are honest if we are honest to ourselves. Yeah, I agree with the one who first respond that we have more benefits when we retire from working at the government.

If you could acquire a permanent item in a government office, there'll be security of tenure compared to any other private firms. It also offers more incentives such as COLA, commutable leave credits, retirement benefits, etc. But there are also some private firms that offers more than all these. Government careers are oftentimes politicized. Oftentimes, it's not what you know but it's who you know. In almost the same way with private firms, your career path will depend on the trust & confidence of the owner/capitalist. If you'll compare the pros and cons of both government and private firms, they're almost the same. Bottomline is, we - being the workers - must do our way to cope with whatever culture our workplace may have & be the best that we can be so we can achieve growth in whatever career path we may be in to.

I am from the Philippines also. I work in a private company. The owner is a foreigner. Well, I think my pay is higher compared to some government offices. But there are also government offices in our country that pays higher compared to private comapnies and they have more benefits than us. But the owner of the private company also matters. If it is private but the owner is local then the pay is low. But mostly foreign own companies in our country pays more. And the job you work for is also a factor for the payment for salary. What we can do employees is to become skillful and good in our work so that we can go to companies that pays better.

definately i prefer "Government job". the job security is secure and you do not need to worry your future because after 30-35 your service, you will get lumsup money from which you can make your future best. in India, the first choice of people to get government job.
