Cash Crate and Treasure Trooper are SCAMS! |
|
I'm sure they're not the only ones either, just the most popular. If you think about what they do it should be obvious to anyone who takes part in the rip off.
Oh I'm not saying they cheat the people who join, of course they wouldn't do that! The scam is perpetrated against the poor advertiser that is offering a nice bonus for people to try their product or service. These are honest businessmen and women who are just trying to make an honest buck and are willing to give in order to receive.
So along comes CC and TT to exploit them, just like Fagin in Oliver Twist (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oliver_Twist ). Instead of picking up street orphans to train as pickpockets, they find Internet Surfers and train them instead. They teach them to sign up for theses offers and just before they have to pay, cancel everything and bring the money back to CC and TT so you can keep a share.
Who do you think is making all the MONEY???? Just like Fagin, they have everyone scrambling to get a piece of the ill gotten gains.
What do you think?

42. cristlegirl (462) | 3 years ago | I am a member of treasure trooper and I do see where you get the idea that they tell you to cancle after signing up with things. They only one they tell you not to follow through with are the 100% free type offers. I know someone who runs a site that is on the TT free offers list and they were told that the members only have to enter there email or zip to get the money.
I do understand where it would be seen as a scam, but I don't think that is the owners fault as they don't allow discussion of cancelation in there forums or chat room. They don't want you to cancle because that ruins there reputation. The scam comes from the members themselves who sign up for offers they don't really want or need. I try not to, and I usually only sign up for offers I want or am interested in.
I do see your point and I get where your comming from. You make a great aurgument, but I really don't think the site it self is a scam.

oldbuddy (5748) | 3 years ago | That's because you approach it honorably, but I doubt if everyone there does. The main point is there are so many better ways to make more money online that I don't need it.

cristlegirl (462) | 3 years ago | I agree there are better ways to make money, but for someone just looking for some extra cash, and some free stuff it's great. I figure it's free because I get my money back for it and then some.
I do know there are people who abuse the program, and I have no learned why a some users have so many referrals, they spam alot, and I think that has givin these sites a bad name as well.

43. killj0y (496) | 3 years ago | They don't make the advertisers join up with their program. They have a choice and the advertisers are not stupid, they know they run the risk of having people cancel. But also there are people who join through these sites and stay members wheather it because they like the program or they just forget to cancel. Chances are with all the people who sign up through these programs they at least break even if they don't make a profit.

|
oldbuddy (5748) | 3 years ago | The advertisers don't sign up at all, they make the offer to the general public and TT just finds it and exploites it without their having anything to say about it.

45. AxranraRose82 (651) | 3 years ago | When you word it like that you are exactly right! I really didn't know how those things worked but now i do! That is pretty wrong to the businesses that are giving out the offers and paying for them. Though I would have to think that they would be aware of how they are taken advantage of if they did their research. If they didn't agree with the business transactions taking place I would think they would put a stop to it. I am guessing that they don't stop it because their are enough people that are happy enough to stick with the offer they are trying and giving the company permanent business. For instance, I tried Blockbuster online which is just like Netflix (only way better!) and then I was on a "pay to" or "points" site and Blockbuster was on the list. If I wasn't already signed up I would have tried it out and I would have stayed because I am happy with the service. It is just like when businesses send you their "trial offers" where you can try it and if you don't like it you can cancel-they are willing to offer you a product sampler.
I have to say though- someone has FINALLY explained it to me in a way that I understand! Thanks for sharing this info!!!

oldbuddy (5748) | 3 years ago | I wonder how many TT members realize they could go to Blockbuster and sign up as an affiliate themselves, then create a real website with good information or reviews and a link to the Blockbuster affiliate url they are given and make a lot more directly without Treasure Trooper.

46. earnwhilelearn (255) | 3 years ago | First of all a very big thanks to on these scams. I really get into any scheme after due analysis over their business and the flow of money. If there seems to be a bit of artificial situation then i would drop it. They make most of the money from the first time users as they donot have returning users. In that sense mylot has done pretty much great thing as it has huge number of recurring users. Probably if they get to realize that may be they would be even more richer than now.

47. badpenny (593) | 3 years ago | There are also the "Trilegiant" companies that comprise at least 50% of the programs people sign up for, if not more. I don't trust any of the GPT sites for that reason. And I won't advertise with sites that lure unsuspecting folks like myself for example. I have been ripped off by Trilegiant twice in as many years. The 1st time, they convinced me I had not only signed up for the program (How I did this with no computer or Internet access, I don't know to this day), but had forgotten to cancel it. I got my $10 back a few days later. The second time was this year, and I know I never signed up for anything called "Great Fun", but I was billed $11.99 3 months in a row. The number on my statement was a disconnected number, and I actually had to Google "Great Fun" to get more information. Where did I get the real phone number to get my refund? From the BBB of Connecticut website, where they list hundreds of unresolved customer complaints. All these GPT sites are working in conjunction with Trilegiant, and if you check real closely almost all the sites they want you to sign up for are divisions of Trilegiant. So, yes, I agree that these sites are scams, not only CashCrate, but all the rest of them, too.

48. scarlet_woman (9054) | 3 years ago | i was checking out TT before i came here-what i really didn't like is it looked like you had to back your account with a credit card (i guess for the offers-it didn't seem it was for age reasons)? not for me.i don't know these people well enough to hand out a CC number.

|
|
SweetTrix (701) | 3 years ago | No, you don't have to back your account with a credit card at all. It's true that they have CC offers but you don't have to do those you can just do the free ones.

50. darkblueverbatim (2082) | 3 years ago | I think I would have to agree with you here that a lot of these programs are promoted as ways to make money for free. I don't think this would be the intentions of the advertisers - to have members make money for free.
On the flip side, I've seen some advertisers "claim" that they rely on the members who have signed up to "forget" to cancel their free sign up and have their credit card charged.
Either way, I agree this type of advertising is not that great, it seems to be deceptive on both sides. I'm not a member of either program and would never want to be.
Thanks for posting this and I'm sorry that I took so long to find it.
