Cash Crate and Treasure Trooper are SCAMS! |
|
I'm sure they're not the only ones either, just the most popular. If you think about what they do it should be obvious to anyone who takes part in the rip off.
Oh I'm not saying they cheat the people who join, of course they wouldn't do that! The scam is perpetrated against the poor advertiser that is offering a nice bonus for people to try their product or service. These are honest businessmen and women who are just trying to make an honest buck and are willing to give in order to receive.
So along comes CC and TT to exploit them, just like Fagin in Oliver Twist (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oliver_Twist ). Instead of picking up street orphans to train as pickpockets, they find Internet Surfers and train them instead. They teach them to sign up for theses offers and just before they have to pay, cancel everything and bring the money back to CC and TT so you can keep a share.
Who do you think is making all the MONEY???? Just like Fagin, they have everyone scrambling to get a piece of the ill gotten gains.
What do you think?

I am a member of treasure trooper and am displeased with these companies. They hassle you, have hidden charges, they're sneaky AND they know the risk of posting their stuff on Treasure Trooper. I personally don't feel bad for the companies.

I don't know about CC and TT, but the ones I belong to make sure to tell you that if you do that (canceling offers and such) they will discontinue you account and forfeit your earnings. They tell you to only sign up for things you are truly interested in and that companies are now tracking from site to site to catch people that sign up for the same offers on duplicate sites. I share with you the feeling that the advertiser is the one getting ripped off, but true sites are cracking down on people that cancel offers and are starting to delay payment until the offers are in effect long enough that the advertiser at least gets their money back. For example, some have stopped taking prepaid credit cards as a way to sign up for a free trial that is supposed to lead into a monthly payment.

They bait people to try their products for a small reward (peanuts compared to what they earn). They don't have to do this, but they choose to. Why you might ask? Because they know that this will be profitable. They don't lose in the end, because they profit from this at tax time among other things.
They count on a certain percentage of customers to cancel/quit. If they like the product they will stay on, as I have with many companies. But, they also count on the customer "forget-factor", and make you jump through hoops if you really want to cancel an offer after reviewing it.
They either put the cancellation info in small print, or make it impossible to find after they sigh up. They know most people will be trusting and not find the cancellation information prior to signing up.
Many customers get their credit cards charged every month even though they do not use their service, because they "forgot to cancel". This happened to me before. The companies knowingly let this continue, even though they know the customer is getting nothing in return for their money. All these charges more than pay for all the cancelled accounts.
I conclude that TT and CC are not scammers; they simply provide a service. I don't feel sorry for the advertisers. Most large companies give away promotional/free/trial products as part of their business expense. They also get a big juicy tax write-off for this. If you were to really examine who are the scammers, and compare the profits, most likely you will find it's the advertisers. GPT sites just provide them with new customers, and get some legitimate income from it.They are not the ones making the big bucks!

69. ivyoon (275) | 3 years ago | Don't you think that this is a little harsh? If the advertisers believed they were being ripped off in some way, wouldn't they NOT advertise on CC and TT anymore? Don't you think it "takes two to tango", so to speak? If I were advertising on a site and it seemed not to be beneficial to me, I wouldn't advertise there anymore, yet DAILY we see the SAME advertisers on CC and TT... They keep coming back! They must either LIKE being ripped off... or they aren't losing as much business as you seem to think they are. There are two sides to every coin, and if you don't agree with the terms of CC and TT and what those sites represent, then don't participate. It's that simple.

|
oldbuddy (5748) | 3 years ago | No I don't think it's harsh at all and it certainly makes a good discussion that won't die.
The advertisers don't contract with CC or TT, they simply make the offers to the public and CC and TT exploit them and keep a large share of the payment for themselves. With thousands of members that don't understand this (or simply don't care), they make a killing.

| 70. write2adaline (89) | 3 years ago | I had never really looked at it this way, but you are right. My only question is, how do they sell to the advertisers without them figuring it out? I know that it is bad that the advertisers are paying for sign ups and then the sign ups are not legit. Everyone is scrambling around online to make a profit so they are willing to do most anything it seems. Thanks for bringing this to our attention.
