Baby shower gift baskets  |

 Have you ever wanted to give a unique baby shower gift that didn't cost a small fortune? I shudder to even think the cost of most items people buy for baby showers. I personalize a gift basket for the new baby.
I go to Wal-Mart and buy a nice wicker laundry basket. They are perfect to hold extra diapers and clothes in after it is empty.
I will either make my own baby blanket out of fleece or buy a premade baby blanket to line the basket with. I fill it with baby bottles, bottle brushes, pacifiers, a baby book, brush and comb set, diapers and wipes, diaper cream, baby shampoo, baby lotion, baby wash, and baby socks. (We all know how quickly those little socks wander off by themselves leaving their mate wondering where they went!)
I also add a little something for the new mom. I will put in a bottle of bubble bath, a tub of lipstick, bath salts, a nice relaxing book by an author I know they like, etc.
If there is an oler sibling, you could even get them a little something, like a book on how to be good big brother or sister.
I hope this inspires you to give a more unique gift the next time you are invited to a baby shower.

Home Made Baby Wipes
Ingredients:
* 1 cylinder shaped plastic container
* 1 roll of paper towels
* 2 cups boiling water
* 1 tablespoon baby bath lavender scented
* 1 and 1/2 tablespoon baby oil
Cut the roll in paper towels in half (cross wise) with a knife, serrated works best. Remove the card board from the middle. Place your paper towels in the container (cut side down). Mix the baby bath and baby oil in boiling water. Stir well. Pour the mixture over the paper towels in the container. If making this as a baby shower gift, decorate the container with baby themed stickers all over.

When I became a grandmother, I didn't have to buy very many baby wipes because I didn't have the baby a whole lot. Now she is almost three and I still have wipes from when she was little that I can use for the upcoming baby. | |

I find when you do this that you are guaranteed that there will be something in it that they will like . And like you said it also makes it unique .

For teh baby basket, items that could be added would certainly include 'onesies'...as moms tend to go through those like wildfire!
