As governor of Texas, George W. Bush commutted the sentence of infamous serial killer Henry Lee Lucas, from death to life imprisonment. It was the only such commutation made by the Governor. What are your thoughts on this interesting footnote in history? Can you add any facts concerning this case? What were Gov. Bush' motivations?

maybe he feels shamed by his past actions which is why he is sending so many people to their deaths now to make up for it.

How dare you call my cousin Henry a serial killer, he was just a troubled young man who lost his way, the things that happened weren't his fault they were caused by a mean mother and a poor upbringing, you must remember what jesus said and you heard him. I thought he had been executed, technicaly he was totally insane and would have been happier if he had been. His buddy Toole who he ran with for several years made Henry look like a boy scout. It is estimated that he may have killed a thousand people over a seventeen year period.They may have kept him alive to try and clear up some cases. The last I read he would have preferred to be dead.

Both died in prison, but you are probably right. Keep these guys alive for the possible closing of other cases. Really they need to be put in a bottle and studied. The numbers they claimed were grandiose and Lucas got all kinds of perks as he took police on a wild chase of supposed body sites.
Toole claimed to have killed Adam Walsh, but the proof is lacking.
Sorry about your family history. Can you "divorce" your cousin?

I think they verified about 300 but but he was a prolific killer and worked with other people, he most likely killed a whole lot more than they think. He wasen't smart enough or sane enough for that many wild goose chases, I personaly think he killed so many people that he cannot really remember and he was delusional most of the time. My birth name was lucas and I got fasinated with the minds of serial killers and have an extensive library on criminal behavior. The problem with Henry is that he was such a wierd mousey looking little puff of flatulance no body took him seriously untill it was to late.
