We have a huge festival celebrated every year here in Washington. DC. It's call The National Cherry Blossom Festival. It is celebrated In DC, from March 31st through April 15th. In March 27, 1912, a gift to the city of 3,000 Japanese cherry trees from Mayor Yukio Ozaki of Tokyo. The Mayor of Tokyo donated the trees in an effort to enhance the growing friendship between the United States and Japan and also celbrate the continued close relationship between the two peoples. When these trees start to bloom, it shows the first sign of spring..It's still cold here, their hoping that the trees will bloom in time for the festival... During this festival there is a 10-mile run...(couldn't do it)..lol..There is also a Art contest, Sushi/Sake tasting, and a host of other activities during this two-week period. On the last day of the festival, there is the Parade of the National Cherry Blossom Festival, followed by the Sakura Matsuri-Japanese Street Festival, A celebration of Japan presented by the Japan-America Society of Washington, DC. It's PACKED in DC. during that time..It's been a record of over 700k people have visited within the 2 week time... Now that I gave you a taste of one of the biggest festival here in my area, Do you have any festivals in your area that are well-known? What kind of festival is it? Please share a little history about your festivals you have in your area. If you don't have any festivals, any festivals you enjoy going to?

This festival is one of the culture we have in my place where they have some ritual step to do before harvesting their paddy crops. We have so many here in NE Ohio and even down in Columbus i dont even think i could go into detail about every single one. Oone of the big ones thou i guess would be the Ohio State fair that runs for two weeks during the end of summer down in Columbus, that one is worth going down for. We went last summer and got to see Bo Bice in concert. Memorial day brings the yearly Hot Air Ballon festival which i went to last year after not going for years, i love that one but thats mainly because i have a interest in hot air balloons. Other then that we have the usual summer county fairs. Like i said too many local fairs to go into great detail

We do not have any festivals here that are well known but we have plenty of local festivals, like the Italian, Mexican, Chinese, Greek and other festivals relating to different cultures. I enjoy these festivals very much and get to learn more about other people and their way of life as well as trying new and different foods. Most of our festivals are in the summer.
