Understanding the nature of an event after it has happened, is called 'Hindsight'. Whereas expecting/forecasting/predicting some event is called 'Foresight'. Which would you rather have? No half way measures please. Either the one or the other!

Well sir, good topic. I cast my vote in favour of ‘Foresight’. Yes, I possess that. I do not think that ‘Hindsight’ has any value in today’s ever changing situation. Formerly (say 50 years back), there was a value of having ‘Hindsight’. Then history used to repeat itself. Today, history hardly repeats itself. Analysis of an event means wastage of time. If one way something does not work, try in another way. If you start analyzing, you are on the back track. Of course, I am talking from the perspective of happenings in personal life (of anyone). If you fail in some exam, immediately make a new strategy, start working on that. Analyzing the causes will yield nothing. Because, there are n-number of variables working behind an event taking place, you cannot know all of them. Wherever, a number of people are involved, you have to continuously go on forming and changing your strategy. Where is the value of ‘Hindsight’? Others around you will continuously change their plans, most of your analysis with ‘Hindsight’ lead to zero or wrong result. Thus, any plan based on those incorrect results, will fail.

Good, prasanta. I like deep reflection among people. We take many basic words and definitions for granted! Have you thought about whether foresight develops due to experience in 'hindsight'?
