I'm bored, I have nothing to do."

I tell them if they help me with the housework I'll play a game with them. Usually, this helps. If not, I give the kids a 2 min. "whine time." They can whine and complain about everything and anything without me getting angry about stuff. When the timer goes off, they are usually happier and can find things to do.
I have also learned that if I limit their "Screen Time" (tv, movies, video/computer games) to about 30 min. a day they are more motivated to find other things to do. My daughters can spend 24 hours stringing beads onto string, making necklaces.

When my kids would whine about haveing nothing to I would find them something to do edpending on thier ages. if they were say about 9 or 10 I would get the mop bucket out and they would mop the kitchen floor. That would be the end of I'm bord for some time. Then I woould find another job for them to do the next time.

I hear this all the time!I always tell them there is no way they can be bored!My god,I didn't have any of the things they have at their age and I was never bored!Mind you,I never stayed in the house either.....kids nowadays don't move unless they are told too....

I keep a list of chores handy when the children are home for any extended length of time. The first time they say "I'm bored," I suggest a few fun activiites. If those don't appeal to them, I get out the chore list and suggest they pick one. It's amazing how quickly they remember something else they want/need to do!:)

I've not heard that from my kids before. What i normally do is to have a schedule for my 2 boys (they are 3 and 5 yrs though). For example, from school, shower, homeowork, revision, play (legos, cycle, etc..), dinner, wash up, reading & winding down time and lastly sleep. This is like a routine to them.

We always plan for weekend family outings. Be it a picnic, visiting family and friends, the beach or plain shopping.

yes, yes, yes i get this line every single day, the best is find different activities for them, trust me they get bored fast from the same activity over and over again. so for example ask them to draw you their best picture that you want to see who could do the best. teach them to try to do better then the other. this will keep them busy sometimes.

one of the best ones that worked for me when they say that annoying sentence, is if you ever buy them toys let them play with the toys for a while until you see that they get bored and walk away from them, then you should hide the toys for a couple of days. then once they say there bored, ask them do they want to play with the toys you hid. trust me they will forget they were bored. stick with that routine trust me it works, and it works for me all the time.

I read some great advice one time from the child psychologist John Rosemond. He says that he hears so many parents talk about their kids being bored. Parents asking what should we do? Should we help them find something to do? Should we tell them what to do? How can we help them? His response was great and I started using it after I read about it. If your child or children come to you and say they are bored, say, "Good, be bored." It is fine to let your children be bored occasionally. The world is so busy and we all need to take time out and just do nothing. Kids don't need to constantly be on the go and doing something. They will be doing that soon enough when they get out in the real world. I tell my kids something else too. When they come to me, "What can we do?", "There isn't anything to do." I tell them that I am not an amusement park. They have things to do, things to play with, things to read. If they don't want to do any of the things they could be doing, just let them be bored.

does that ever work? .... like honestly? lol i doubt it i think it is important to keep young mind stimulated maybe more sports equipment or craft projects, arty stuff, beach stuff, try some of these things next time and goodluck... oh and i think all kids come out with this line

I just say to them with all the stuff you have there is no reason for you to be bored. Go outside gather some friends and do some games outside. The thing that really scatters them is when I look at them and start talking about how when I was younger we had to make our own fun. We didn't have all these things that were supposed to keep the children from getting bored. We made our own fun. Of course I don't get very far into it and they are out the door and not looking back. It is funny to me.
