Do you listen to certain albums while writing?  

I love music and I feel its my soul. (I write this same line whenever I respond to music related discussions). I feel it energizes and inspires me a lot. I feel more and more creative and productive when I listen good music. When I write something or read I prefer some good music being played in background. It really helps a lot.

Its a great gift of god and its just great. Even when don't listen to music, I used to sing in solutition. Music is just great.

Listening to music distracts me from writing because I end out singing along to the music. On the other hand, music like country music tells stories that inspire me. I can listen to music when I am writing in my journal or writing poetry, but not when I have a story in my head that I want to get down. I need no distractions for that.

If I need slow music in the background while doing something else I have to focus on I normally listen to Coldplay, any of their albums are great.

I'm jealous of people who can write well while listening to music. If I don't have silence, I get way too distracted to write very well.

I love music and i love listening to songs. But i prefer not to listen to albums (especially my favorites) while i'm writing. It is because it keeps me distracted; i can't think of anything else but the lyrics of the song. If i resort to listening to albums i don't really like, i eventually fall asleep and can't finish anything. :)

I don't listen to ONE particular album, rather one kind of music. I enjoy listening to traditional music from around the world, but in foreign languages when I write. It's nice to have something in the background, but it's better if it's not in English. I want to be writing about my ideas, not someone else's.

My roomie normally listens to classical/instrametal music when writing (not that either of us have done much of that lately.) But one story she wrote had to be done to comedy/funny music - it was a comedy. I don't normally listen to music when I'm writing. I actually like to write mostly where there is some kind of noise going on around me - I've writen several stories on the computer with the TV going - nothing interesting, news, the weather radar, etc. I also like to write in public, I wrote about 20 pages last summer on the start of a story while my mom was in the health care center with her broken arm - as soon as she went back to her apartment, it stopped... I'm working with a friend now to try & get it started again.

I love music. I find that I write better when I am listening to music. I usually listen to something soothing to get the creative juices flowing. My Reiki music is what I reach for. If I am not writing, then I listen to good old rock and roll (the older the better).

I listen to opera and classical, but find I need most of my concentration to get through the editing process. So usually when I am writing my novel, Winamps off, and the only music in the background is from the TV which is in the other room and it is keep on low. Of course, once I get my laptop, things will be different.
