Taking Care Of An Elderly Loved One  

My father is not in his final days, but he does have Alzheimers which results in a great deal of family care. I just try to spend time with him and listen to him even though he may tell me the same things over and over. I try to get him out to do things like get an ice cream or visit the grandkids. I think the most important thing is to be patient and surround yourself with caring, patient people that understand your do all you can....

I am taking care of my Mom. She lives with my husband and me now. She has had a mild stroke and heart surgery, diabetes, and high blood pressure. She just turned 80 a couple of weeks ago. I try to get her out as much as possible. She likes to get out of the house and especially to eat out.

I have a grandmother on my father's side who is already 75 years old. We always find time to comfort her and take her to places that will enlighten her mood like going to villas outside the metro or city to enjoy the surroundings and fresh air. We like her to be happy on her last remaining days here with us and we love her very much!
