What do you do with your shopping cart? |
|
After you're finished shopping and you have all you've purchased in the car, what do you do with the shopping cart? Do you take it to the cart return or just leave it wherever?
It's just something I'm curious about... I take the cart to the return and my sister just leaves the cart wherever (empty spot to the side, in front of where she parked).

1. patgalca (6035) | 3 years ago | Oh, that drives me crazy when people don't put their carts away. It makes it hard to get into parking spots. It is so inconsiderate to leave the cart just anywhere. I always park next to the cart return shelter so that I can put it away after I have unloaded the groceries. If I can't park next to it, then I will make the trek to put the cart away.

adnaporg (178) | 3 years ago | It drives me crazy to see people doing that too! I try to park close to the cart returns but have been known to push the cart half way across the parking lot to one myself. Like you said it makes it hard to park when they're everywhere, plus I feel sorry for the people who have to collect them. Sure they get paid to do it but that doesn't mean we need to make their jobs harder, right?!

2. jimbo45 (9407) | 3 years ago | hi there.well, when ive loaded my shopping into the car, which i park in the disabled spaces, and im not disabled,i put my trolley right into the middle of the next disabled parking space thats empty.i dont know why i do this.i just do.when its windy,i leave them out in the open,in the hope that they will blow into someones car and damage it.or worse,be propelled along at great speeds by the wind, and bowl over some unsuspecting old biddy. i am of course joking,im a good boy and i put my cart away, honest.

simplysue (527) | 3 years ago | LOL jimbo45, good thing you are joking:) I'm very fond of a sign I saw posted right next to a disabled spot....it said 'If you park here and you are not disabled, you will be when you leave!'

youdontsay (2034) | 3 years ago | Yes, I too am glad you are joking. I park in disabled spaces because I am disabled and it is SO annoying when the parking space has a cart in it and I can pull all the way in. I try to rationalize that it was probably someone who was too disabled to take the cart to the cart corral. But I often see someone doing it who is perfectly able to take the cart four or five parking spaces away where the corral is located. This is especially frustrating when the weather is bad, wet, windy, cold, because I can't move quickly to hurry through the weather. And the farther I have to walk the wetter or colder I get. I try to be thoughtful about other people and it would be so nice if others did too.

3. arkaf61 (5728) | 3 years ago | I always take the cart to the cart return area. They are available for our convenience and it is our responsibility to take it back to where we got it, or at least for an appropriate area to leave it. I have even seen people taking them all the way home and then never take it back. And I have a bit of a problem with that. Abandoned carts all over the place, can cause accidents, and create more work for the people that work in the supermarket. For me abandoning the cart is just a proof of selfishness.

adnaporg (178) | 3 years ago | I agree with it being proof of selfishness... and it really bugs me when people talk about how the workers get paid to collect them - why make their job harder for nothing?! It's not justification, especially when it gets crazy cold out.

5. twils2 (1299) | 3 years ago | I usually find one of those cart return racks in the parking lot and leave it there. I hate it when someone just leaves the cart in a parking spot, or worse yet, in the middle of the road. Most people dont relize that those carts cost quite a bit of money and taking care of them will help keep the grocery cost down. Every little bit helps.

7. gardengalz (1778) | 3 years ago | I put it in the shopping cart return area. My vehicle has been hit by stray carts that I've had to get the paint touched up on; I don't want to be responsible for doing that to others.

adnaporg (178) | 3 years ago | I think that a lot of people don't even think that far ahead, that it could possibly damage someones car - and it's sad that most of the ones who do realize that probably don't even care:(

8. apakabar2007 (1048) | 3 years ago | I'll always try put the shopping cart back to its belong or to the safest area. If I parked too far and I'm not shopping alone then I will ask my friend/ husband/ sisters to get the car so we can load our shopping stuff closer to the shopping cart centre. And if cart collectors/ cart pushers around, I'll let him take my shopping cart with my coins still inside as a reward.

9. Takuyar (107) | 3 years ago | I bring it back to the return area if I'm not in a hurry or I have someone to look after the car.
It's kind of a hassle if there's no one looking after the car..

10. ladymoonstone143 (1287) | 3 years ago | I already return my cart after shopping because I think of other people who will be inconvenience if I will not return it. I observed that some carts can hit a park car especially if the weather is windy or somebody just back up with the cart at their back. It will be good to think of other people rather than just not caring at all.
