Did you ride the school bus in grade school?

I always wanted to ride the school bus in grade school but never had the chance. My parents bought a house directly across the street from the elementary school when I was four so from day one all I had to do was walk across the street. Of course all my friends who lived in the country (and had to ride the bus for an hour each day) thought I was nuts to be jealous of them. My kids ride the bus to school but it is only about 6 blocks or so. They hate it. Go figure. haha

I lived 3 blocks away from my school so I had to walk or sometimes ride my bike. I always wanted to ride the bus. It seemed to be the cool thing to do back then.

Yes, I had to ride the dreadful yellow school bus. Wake up early to sit on the bus for an hour or two before getting to school. Then sit on the bus another hour or two in the afternoons waiting to get home. Nothing fun about that!

I only rode the bus for 3 months in 6th grade. We lived in California at the time and we had to cross a couple of busy streets so they made us ride the bus. Now a days kids get a school driving permit at 14. I am not sure I like the idea of a 16 year old behind the wheel, much less a 14 year old. Except for that 3 months I walked to school. rain or shine. I didn't get a car until I was a senior in high school.

When I was in my first grade in my elementary when I did ride the school bus. Actually it was not a bus, but a rather large utility vehicle. We were around eleven or twelve students riding that bus, and most of us became friends during that time. The year after, I stopped riding the bus. Instead, my father, whose office is just near my school would fetch me after class, and take me home.

No, we only lived like 2 blocks away from the elementary school so we would walk to it.

I did when I was younger but I ended up getting a ride back home with my friend's mom or from one of my family members

Yes I did ride in a school bus when I was in grade school for 4 yearsl, i think though "i swear" that my school is just 10-15 minutes walk from our home. I think the reason is that we have to cross the street, and that is full of vehicles... it is really hard to cross that street in going to school that times so my parents put me on a school bus. It was fun though... lolz, got lots of friends!

I loved riding the school bus, because I had friends of different age groups on the bus, whereas in school, I pretty much stayed with those in my own grade. We had all sorts of ways to make the time pass on the 45-minute ride. Reading, drawing, whisper down the lane, I Spy, clapping games, Simon says, make believe. I even used to dress up my backpack in winter clothes to pretend it was another kid sitting beside me on the bus. My mom made me feel bad that I took away her scarf, but I just had to have my backpack friend!
