| | Cleanliness is also important to me, lonewolfnan. I have declined rooms that have not been cleaned properly. I agree that the people who clean the rooms tend to make a small wage, and I like to show my appreciation to them for a job well done as well as for doing good, honest work. | |  We've only tipped a handful of people, mostly because all of the ones we've dealt with haven't really deserved a tip. There are some really nice people out there that deserve it and if they help us, they get it. Otherwise, we don't tip.

| |  Wherever I have to tip I do..and even here in the supermarkets when people are filling the bags..I always give what spare change I can. I just think it is a sign of courtesy for their service and recognising them for their hard work...Mind you having said that..alot of people make more money in tips than we would getting an average wage lol.

| | Ah, yanjiaren, that is kind and thoughtful of you to think of so many people. I like to tip people all around town as well, when I can. I especially like to tip people who load my truck at the lumberyard or the feed store. They are usually very surprised when I tip them, but I think they're even more surprised that someone noticed them, much less values them.

| |  I normally travel with my family, 2 adults and 2 children aged 5 and 3. We usually stay at a hotel and i will tip childminders, bell hops waiters/es. My boys are active so i know it's work non-stop for the sitters. The bell hops are so helpful with our luggages and shopping bags and the waiters/es just help enhance our meals by recommending the best dish for the evening and keeping our boys occupied with toys and children's menu.
I generally tip them about $5.

| | I know the feeling well, camar_lyn, as I have three boys, ages 8, 11, and 13. They can certainly be quite the handful, as well as make a big mess. It is especially helpful to me as a parent, when someone makes the extra effort to take care of my children.

| |  I always tip...the amount depends on the service and what I have available really. Anyone in the service industry should be tipped generously I believe. They usually don't make great money and they are working for you, so why not take care of them. In the long run, they will take care of you too.

| | I nearly always tip as well, buldwgz, the only exceptions being when I just don't have the money. For me, tipping is a sign of grace that has nothing to do with whether the service is good or bad. Of course, I would prefer good service, but I refuse to let bad service get in the way of generosity, otherwise, would it really be generous? Hmmm, another discussion, perhaps.

| |  I leave a tip for most service people. The amount I tip equates to the amount of personal service a person gives.
I have left tips ranging from $2 to $100 dollars.
