is it really happening in real life?  | |  While I was reading the book, A child Called It, I didn't know whether to believe or not. It's just like reading a fictional book. But nevertheless I never doubted the author's credibility. In fact I pity him (the author) for experiencing those maltreatments during his childhood.

I think that what he experienced might have been an extreme case of abuse, but it does indeed happen. You can read such stories in the news all the time. Just google 'child abuse' and you'll come up with tons of results.
