Does the city you live in produce anything that we would know about? |
|
Have you ever had a fluffernutter? That yummy Fluff Marshmallow Creme that you put on it is made right here in the city of Lynn where I live. The factory is actually only a few streets away from where my mom lives and there's always that sort of sweet aroma in the air. The owners of the company started producing it back in 1920 in their kitchen! Imagine not having an FDA to shut them down? They started with a barrel of sugar, a barrel at .28 a pound! They also used tin cans and had only 2 spoons, one for each of them. Since it contains no artificial preservatives it's said that it's better per serving than grape jelly for kids. A few years ago a local Senator wanted to ban Fluff from the schools because they sometimes offer fluffernutters for lunches. Parents fought the bill and it never got passed. That's one of most kids favorite sandwiches and without the jelly it's nutritious and something they can put together for themselves. A great thing when mom is not feeling so well. Fluff is one of the items that unfortunately for them is not available on the West Coast. Which is another discussion in itself. The link below is for a pdf for their yummy recipe book and believe me....it is yummy!http://www.marshmallowfluff.com/media/pdf/yummybook.pdf Check it out! Is there anything your city produces or is famous for that you would like to share?

She still lives there and even though her son is 22 years old, I still have to bring fluff with me when I visit. I brought two with me when I went in october.. I just got a request to send more... It seems that CJ has introduced his step brother to it and now they can't get enough..Good thing it doesn't weigh much..lol I also have to send Salada Tea and yankee candles.

mistymornster (1800) | 2 years ago | I'm amazed at the things we have that other states don't have. When I moved to San Diego I couldn't get a devil dog to save my life. Not only that but I was laughed at when I asked about them!

5. MsTickle (6037) | 2 years ago | Firstly...what's a fluffernutter? It's so naughty of you to tease us like this...mention something and then not explain...lol. I live in a rural area, this side of the Outback. The town is called Pilliga and there is an area to the south of us called the Pilliga Scrub. It's a sandy area with lots of cyprus pine trees and endangered and local flora and fauna, but it's mostly scrub. There are huge numbers of kangaroos and feral pigs and some feral goats in the area so we get lots of hunters. Probably not quite what you had in minD but the best I could do.

8. Vacant (2327) | 2 years ago | Do the words - Lumina, Monte Carlo, Cavalier, Buick, GMC, Escalade, Hummer or H3 sound familiar? LOL! This is motor city! Most of the population either works at GM or works in a plant that provides parts to them. This company keeps a roof over our heads now, and when I was a child, living an hour away from here, my father made the daily commute. For over 30 years!
