i'd probably turn weak-kneed and jelly, my heart pounding I practically could hear it. I don't want to mess with law. That's what father always says.

very true. those who have powers are often been feared.

Police stuff (uniforms, behaviors, etc) are designed to spook us. The best way to deal with the police is to act as if you have no reason to be bothered. Be offended, but polite, about the fact that they are even assuming that you might have broken the law.
I live in a 'hood with a lot of police attention. They look at everyone. So you glance at them as they sloww beside you, you turn away and act as if they really are not your problem. They usually believe it.

yes, it happen every time when police stop me driving a car. Even I'm sure, that I didn't break the rules - become numb for a sight. As it happen every time when I travel by city bus and controller ask to show ticket:)

I'm always afraid of police. When they stop my car I really panic. But I guess its not afraid of the police but afraid of getting a ticket from them.

Actually I feel confident when a police is nearby because I know that Im safer whenever they are closer to me. The only people who fear authorities are those people who commited a crime or guilty of any violations.

Why do I have to fear the police if they are the one who guards and maintain our peace and order? Don't you think we should thank them than fear them.

A very timely question for me.

This afternoon, while I was waiting for my new phone to arrive, I looked out of the windows and saw a police car arriving. I was thinking, hmm... what's happening.

Then again I thought, hey, I didn't commit any crime so why should I be scared. We have a Chinese saying that translate literally to "If you do not do anything against your conscience, you will not be scared even if the door bell rings at night".

And so I went back to my own things and ignored the police car. There, nothing happened to me. :P

When I first started driving I was terrified of them. Even stopping at a regular check point got my shaking. But then I realised, I'm probably older than most of them, they look about 12. So I was stopped one day and my tax was out by a month, my hubby kept forgetting to get it renewed. So anyway, this police man threatened to take the car off me. I got myself and the kids out of it at 11pm at night, and told him to work away, take it, I'd be going to the paper the following morning telling them I was taken from my car with 2 kids late at night. I took his badge number and all. His colleague came over to find out what I was making a fuss about. Policeman number 1 told him. Policeman number 2 told him not to be so stupid over something so small. He apologised for his colleague being a moron, his words not mine. Since then I haven't been worried about them at all, they always come in pairs (a bit like buses), and surely one will be reasonable.

This is a world to fear the police. In the USA they say innocent until proven guilty. That is bullsheet. Maybe if you are rich however if you are poor... YOU WILL GET LOCKED UP UNTIL YOUR TRIAL. Plain and simple.
I don't trust the police & if I had the opportunity to run on foot I would. More than likely the cop would be out of shape & not catch me. (see my discussions on police & running from the police)
They word things to try to get you to admit guilt.

I was taken to jail for driving on a suspended license. Well my license wasn't suspended. NEVER. But because of the stupid pigs my DMV record is clean. SPOTLESS. They took everything off.

The cops thought they were doing me harm because I don't kiss their azz. I don't call anyone sir unless they deserve it. I don't owe them anything & my taxes pay for their salary.
Little did they know in their small minds they would save me thousands of dollars for the rest of my life. Thanks all you bad cops out there. As for the good ones... keep up the good work & stay in shape. If you can't run you can't catch anyone.

no i am not scared of them because i know that i have not done any thing wrong so i dont have any reason to be afraid.
