HELP ~How to Save My Leather Suitcase !!!!  

In 1966,a friend of mine had given me a suit-case made from pure leather as the 'marriage-gift'. This , she got made specially for me at Calcutta (now Kolkata). This is real leather, no card-board with a thin pasting of leather looking paper. But, now it has become hard and the polish has also gone making it look dull. Ofcourse, we never used that in travels , just kept some of my costly silk-sarees in it. A clean cloth is also kept over it to protect from dust etc.
Friends, how to restore the softness and the lusture, how to clean it, please help.
