Spring cleaning is upon me, every year about this time i go through everything in my home and either throw it out, pack it up for good-will and clean places in my house that hasnt see a wash rag since last spring, like walls, ceilings etc... Its also the time that I go through the kids closets and mine sorting out clothing thats too small, or useless and donate them. But the task is so time consuming, it takes more than a week sometimes to just sort things out and organize them. The guys are the GoodWill center loves to see me arriving this time of year because they know that i have lots of useful things for them that they can give to other families. I use to have yard sales, but I found this more rewarding in the end, and I didnt have the hassle of trying to sell it all outside on my lawn...Anyone have suggestions as to make this not be such a dreaded time?..even tho I donate it, its still such a pain to sort and organize it.

i need to do this myself.. clothes items i usually go through over winter and put them into boxes,as i have time. i actually have a hard time donating tho-a lot of the centers around here are picky.they refuse a lot. (some things i've donated were brand new, too)

I have donated things that still have price tags on it...my daughter got new clothes for Christmas, and just never wore it and now don't want it...so why let it go to waste when someone else can benefit from it.. thanks for posting scarlet!

I know what you mean. It's coming on that time for us too. I usually put things up on freecyle that we don't want anymore and are decent. I find the best way to tackle spring cleaning is doing it room by room. Take one a day and just work on it all day long (with breaks of course) but that way I can feel like I accomplished something. When I try to do the whole house and get parts done, like flip all the matteresses or do the curtains, it doesn't seem like I accomplish that much. It's not obvious where the other is and that can spur me to do more.

A room at a time, perhaps I should hire someone to do it..lol..but then again, they just might throw or toss out everything and leave me with bare rooms....just seems like the whole house is a mess until this is accomplished...thanks for posting!

I hate spring cleaning that is such a dreaded job but somebody has to do it so with dread I roll up my sleves and dig in. first the closets if it hasn't been worn in 2 years it goes. If it is holey or stained it goes. and then I straighten things and stuff I haven't used that isn't seasonal stuff goes. cause if you I seen to rat pat everything all year for just in cases but then never use it. then we start on the walls and i found out that OxyClean works well in cleaning paneling and walls then it the floors and In the kitchen cabinets get cleaned out and as witht he other stuff if I haven't used it and it not seasonal it gets tossed I get loads of stuff given to me throughout the year so I will probably donate alot of my stuff to good will or maybe if there is enough and someother want to go together and have a yard sale I might. There is no easy way about sprin cleaning it is always a pain. unless as you store it you write on the bags and boxes what it is and categorize it as you store it for it will be easier next year but that too is time consuming probably. I suggest getting help of family members. It's amazing what some kids will do to help for a few extra dollars in there pockets.

Hi, RachelleDD. I have not done all of my spring cleaning. But when I get around to it, I will be just as busy as you are. I have a lot of sorting to do and it will take me some time to get them all together. I have not even started yet. I will be glad when I can get all of this done. You will just have to keep doing what you are doing and take your time. It may take long, but once you have it all sorted out, you will be glad when it is all taken care of.
