Do SAD SONGS make you cry? |
| |
| I'm a bit of a softie when it comes to listening to sad or slow songs and it's not unknown for me to start crying like a baby when I hear a song with beautiful words. I don't know what it is but there are certain songs that make me cry, it can be very embarrassing if you're listening to music with friends and pretty embarrassing when it happens when I'm listening to the radio whilst driving and a lovely sad song comes on and I end up driving with tears rolling down my cheeks. Looks pretty stupid and kinda dangerous too as I end up having to dig around for a tissue! Some examples of songs that make me boo like a baby are: We've Only Just Begun - The Carpenters, Woman - John Lennon, Seasons in the Sun - Terry Jacks, Careless Whisper - George Michael. There are lots more but I think these will do as examples for now. Am I one of the few people that are this over-emotional when it comes to music? I wonder sometimes if I am unstable LOL! I don't know other people who start crying when they hear sad songs... Just wanted to find out from fellow myLotters if they got tearful listening to certain songs... | | Sad songs make me cry | | | | |

| | I have always been very effected by music. Yes, sad song can/do make me cry. But I also know that music can have a very positive effect. I have found when I have unpleasant chores to do I put on gospel music. I find I can do anything while singing praises to the LORD. | | | | | | |

| | Yes I understand that you might assume that I might be feeling sad already for songs to have a tearful effect on me but I've thought about it and it's mostly not the case. I avoid listening to sad songs deliberately because they can make me tearful even if I'm in the best of moods, which is a shame because I end up avoiding some of the most beautiful songs! I've avoided listening to Woman by John Lennon for years because it is 100% guaranteed to have me weeping LOL! It's very weird, I can't figure it out! :) | | | |

| | Oh my, no I don't think I have any sort of psychic powers (did I spell it right?). Can you imagine being at a party with friends and wanting to have a slow dance with your partner but having to make an excuse to go out to the toilet or kitchen or somewhere because the slow songs make you feel so weepy? LOL it's mad! I really wish I wasn't such a big baby! | | | |

| | I too am a fan of sad songs, even when they make me tearful. My dad used to sing quite a lot of sad songs and whenever I hear them I get very melancholy. One of my favourites is "Pal of my Cradle Days" and I feel the words are very true. I sing it so often that now my grandchildren are starting to sing it and it actually makes me happy to listen to them. | | | | | | |

| | Thanks for your response. I haven't heard of the song you mentioned but sounds like it's a classic if your grandchildren are also now singing. Good to hear they bring you so much joy to hear them singing it. There are happy songs which are not slow but very melodious that can set me off too. I must be a lil bit crazy! | | | |

| | Yeah, I have felt this many times. In fact personally I feel, god has gifted this ability of crying just to humans, what it would have been, if we never able to cry. I enjoy the sorrow and the lightness of heart when you are crying. I like listening to my favourite sorrow number, sing along and cry. Think I am mad? maybe I am, I don't know. | | | | | | |

| | It's really refreshing to see a guy admitting to crying at sad music, well done you! You're not mad, you're sensitive. Most guys are just too macho to admit to having feelings like alone admitting that they can cry along to their fave sad song :) | | | |

| | I don't easily cry when I heard a sad song. But I can cry like a baby when I watch a sad movie. Some sad songs may give me a feeling of nostalgia. Reminiscing about a certain point in your life where the song was played. | | | | | | |

| | I cry at sad scenes in films too, it's even worse than listening to songs! I actually avoid going to the cinema to watch films if I know there are likely to be sad scenes as I would start hollering like a baby and people tend to look at you like you're mad! LOL. Maybe I need psychiatric help?! Thanks for your response :) | | | |

| | yes!! i do cry when listening to sad songs especially when im alone. and it feels good to cry while listening to music because it relieves the tension building up inside of me. It's like i remember my problems and the things that are bugging me then i just cry. after the song ended i'll repeat it again but it creates a different effect the second time around. :)) i guess listening to sad music if my way of expressing myself. | | | | | | |

| | Yes it is easier to listen to sad songs when you're alone if they make you so emotional. I get rather embarrassed when I get so over emotional at songs! Good to know so many people get emotional at sad songs too :) | | | |

| | Yes, I always cry when I listen to some really emotional song, depicting some really emotional situation. I recall when I was watching a movie on patriotism and there was a song depicting feelings of a mother when she comes to know that his beloved some is died in plane crash. The song is very very beautifully composed and sung that you can't stop tear coming out of your eyes. | | | | | | |

| | Oh don't get me started on sad songs in films! In Hindi films some of the songs can make me weep like a child! And where they have 7 or 8 songs in a film and it's a sad film, I can go through a box of tissues LOL! | | | |

| | I may not want to admit this but I'm very sentimental...hu hu hu! Songs do make me cry. One song in particular I can't help crying over is the song of Josh Groban entitled 'To Where You Are'. The words just pull at my heartstrings and I just cant help it. I also feel like crying everytime I hear the song 'Tears In Heaven'. | | | | | | |

| | Another Careless Whisper fan! Gosh that song is one of the absolute worst ones for making me cry! Sometimes if I hear it in a nightclub I have to rush off the the toilet rather than cry in public, my poor hubby can't even have a slow dance to it with me! x | | | |
