Canadian bacon in canada  

As long as I've lived here..........and that's all my life, I have never heard bacon called anything else.

Bacon is bacon. I don't know why you would want to change the name.

Yes Canadian bacon is Canadian Bacon. You are talking about the round bacon with or with out the cornmeal. As for the rashers of bacon, they are just plain old bacon.

That term "Canadian Bacon" always reminds me of the movie Canadian Bacon eh!

I'm not Canadian but I just had to comment on how funny these things can be. I guess in China, Chinese food is just. . .food.

I am not canadian but I am from the united states and we also call it canadian bacon too.
So i dont know either if the canadians call it canadain bacon,or something else.

No most restaurants won't call it CANADIan bacon in Canada (some do but not most) they call it back bacon. I don't know why, I don't like pork, i eat turkey bacon.

I've always wondered what exactly the bacon that so many non-canadians call Canadian Bacon is. If it is the one with the cornmeal that's what we call Peameal (pronounced peemale). Back Bacon is somewhat similar but without the cornmeal but I'm not sure that's what others call Canadian Bacon either.

Perhaps someone can find a picture to add to the discussion and it will help us Canadians tell you what we call that particular type of bacon.

I'm a Canadian, who lives 5 months in Texas every year. In Canada we buy regular "Bacon", At the Supermarket. In Texas we buy Premium "Canadian Bacon" because its leaner with less Fat.

I am working in a western/asian cuisine restaurant. Our chef told us that canadian bacon wasn't really named after Canada. I just forgot the reason why... but it has a reason why it is called Canadian bacon ;-)...
