Daniel Radcliffe in Equus

I can understand why some parents are worried. Many children (and even adults) cannot see the distinction between reality and fiction. this means that they may think that it is Harry potter that has appeared nude on stage. If the children are easily influenced they may think it is okay to be nude on stage. Okay, if they were in this sort of play then probably a majority of people would think that it was 'art' and okay. however, there are lots of things done on stage in the nude that are not quite so 'arty' such as exotic dancing etc. i am not saying whether I think this is right or wrong but I can see why some parents may be concerned if their children considered going into this career.

From daniel radcliffe's point of view I can fully understand why he wanted to do this. If he does not make a name for himself doing something else then he will be typecast as harry Potter for his whole life and not find any other work. Doing this play was very brave and also very clever. It brought him a lot of publicity and press attension showing that he has broadened his horizons and although he is likely to be making 2 more harry Potter films he is quite capable of playing more mature roles.

I think the biggest problem is that there are probably going to be some parents out there that don't realize there's nudity in the play (although, how, I'm not quite sure, as there's so much publicity surrounding it), and will bring their kids to see it, as it's Harry Potter, and then they'll get all offended that "Harry Potter is naked!!!omg1!eleven!"

I honestly don't see the big deal about it. He's an ACTOR, and he can't spend the rest of his life playing Harry Potter. He has to be able to move on to more adult roles, either on stage or screen. Equus is an adult drama, and it's not something that his HP audience of children should be seeing, so one should not impact the other, in my opinion.
