i would like to know how they even come up with those numbers. i used to be a ten and now i am a nine. what do they even mean anyway. it isn't like you are getting paid more because you have a higher number. oh well i'm sure mylot knows what they are for

I've always thought that the star rating thing was ridiculous and stopped paying attention to it long ago. It is like it censors people for speaking their opinion if it rocks the boat because they are so afraid of getting a negative rating. Well, forget that. I am going to say whatever I have to say whether it is popular with the majority of opinions or not. That is what makes Mylot fun. This star thing is just a sad way to try to keep the site under control, and in the meantime some of the best contributors on here have low stars while alot of people that hardly make any sense at all are sporting 10's.

That's a great way to look at it. I don't agonize over my star rating. I usually don't even pay much attention to it. If people give me a - rating to try to hurt my feelings, they are wasting their time, because I am more concerned about the opinions of people who know more about me than just some words typed on a page. Personally, I give + ratings to all responses to my discussions, and to all those posting on discussions where I respond.

I would like to know who came up with that ideas anyway? It realy doens't make any since to me. You have people that just joined and they automatically get a 10 I don't know How they do things.

I guess you are talking about the star. I have no clue as to what it means and will not worry about it. I like MyLot because I get to meet people like you with similar interest. Heck, I have started several discussions and no one has responded yet. It's OK though, I remain an incurable optimistic. Hey, I just got an idea, maybe it's the little + - signs on the side of the post that have something to do with it. I know when I read something I like I + it. Anyway have a great day.

Oh, don't I know how that feels. In fact, it happened to me after I posted responses to hmmmm 2 of your discussions LOL. Because, my view was in opposition to yours, and the majority of people on your discussion, I went from a 9 to an 8 within a days time.

It doesn't bother me though, because if people want to go around giving (-) ratings for opposing views, well it just shows their maturity. (-)ratings are supposed to be reserved for poor quality discussions and responses and violations.

Just keep posting your quality thought provoking discussions, and don't care about the rating star. Think of it this way, if your star goes down, you most likely made someone use their brain to think *smile*, and instead of your star going up, it is 'rewarded' by going down--think of it as a good thing LOL.

I did have a 10 for 2 weeks after they started doing that little star rating, and I happened to go away for the weekend and I came back to a 9 star, and have not been able to get it back up to a 10 since then.

Oh yeah that's what I'm talking about. I hate the stupid star rating thing. It's pointless and no one really rates you unless they give you a negative. No one has the politeness to push the plus button. It would take too much time. Those lazy jerks. I always give positive ratings as long as the person deserved it. I say S*R*w what everyone else think your rating should be. It's all in our head.

Hi there - man I sure know how that feels. One day I was a 10 and it took a lot of hard work to get there, next day i'd dropped around 3-4 points and I couldn't figure out the reason why. I hadn't said anything controversial, I just spoke my mind, as I do - guess some people mustn't have liked it. I don't think you should give a negative rating to someone just because they don't agree with you. The negative is for abusive discussions and that's all. You're right - you know who you are and what you're about! You've got a great attitude! lol

I feel the same way you do too, I was a 10 than a 9, I have no idea why that happened, and I personally don't mind it. I'm here for discussions and to voice my opinions, however, some people are ignorant and want to hurt you. I wouldn't even worry about it, just enjoy it and don't even think about that star thingy...
