My favorite hiking area is the Olympic National Forest. I have also gone hiking in Capitol Forest State Park, Millersylvania State Park, the Cascades (mid-state), and Mount Saint Helens National Park. As an avid camper/hiker I am always looking for suggestions on new hiking areas!

The Columbia River Gorge and the Mount Hood National Forest are also beautiful places to hike; those are my two favorites. There are some nice places to hike close to the coast also, like Saddle Mountain.

I have yet to make it to Mt Hood, but I have spent some time both camping and kayaking Columbia River - definitely gorgeous. The drive along the river is also beautiful. Thanks!

There are a lot of great hiking spots here in Southern Oregon as well and in the Siskyou National Forest. I like smaller hikes. I have also heard the Multnoma Falls out of Portland is a great place to hike and can be challenging in spots. I love the Cascades, I believe their are some hiking sites around the Three Sisters Mountains out of Sisters, OR...which is north of Bend just a bit.

I have only driven through Southern Oregon once, but maybe I will make it down there this summer since I once again have a car.
