Sorry my husband and I live out in the boonies as most everyone knows that knows me on here. And soon honey is going in for an operation so he wants to get in as much walking as possible. Well to get to the point we have some land out behind us and it has a small log cabin on it and I mean small. I am not that tall and it is barley tall enough for me to stand up straight in.There is no evedince of a bathroom in this old house. No evedience of any plumbing at all in this house. We found an old wood stove in the back yard of this place a small one it was all broken. We find glass jars out there that really look old some of them have no screw threads on the top where the cap was supposed to be. Has cars on the property that are from the early 30's 40's. And we take walks down there just to get some excersize. Any way there was no electric ever installed in that house. We sometimes wonder how it must have been to live back then. How much they had to do without back then compared to these days and times. We have found bottles out there that was from the 20's 30's 40's. Can you imagne how it must have been back then? Would you want to even try to go back and live without all of today's modern conviences? Not me! But I could if I had to just wouldn't like it very much. Thanks hope you have a great day/evening.

I am sure it was too but I just don't think I would want to go back and live the hard life they had to live. Must have been hard though to have lived back then. Thanks for your prayers. Never can have too many prayers. Hope you have a great day/evening.

Ummm...absolutely not!LOL!
I know that I take alot of todays covenience's for granted, but I do not know what I would do without them.

If I had to though, I would be able to tough it out. But it wouldn't be pretty!

myLot reputation of 93/100. bwrattybaby (5226)  5 years ago

We all take for granted todays conviences but it was a thought how hard it must have been to live way back when. but then like one lady said you couldn't miss what you didn't know. have a great day/evening.

Many times I have wondered if I was not born in the wrong decade. But I realize now I would not be alive but for medical interfearance.I enjoy going "rustic" but not for long periods of time.

myLot reputation of 93/100. bwrattybaby (5226)  5 years ago

Yep I thought that too till I had to do without some of the modern conviences for a year or so. Wasn't easy but I did it and survived it. Hope you have a great day/evening

myLot reputation of 93/100. bwrattybaby (5226)  5 years ago

Thanks Sassy I think I could handle it but I wouldn't like it. I know when we didn't have a phone I thought that was too much for me to do without. But then when we first got here and didn't have a modern toilet and had to haul water I thought oh no I don't know if I am going to like this. But it is all fine now we do have a modern toilet now still hauling water though I don't mind it. Oh well life goes on. Hope you have a great day/evening.

I suppose it would be kind of like camping out in the bush which we dont do nearly as much as we would like too. I love the free and easyness of camping but i sure like to come home to my house with all my gizmos and gadgets and thingymabobs that clutter up the place and make life so easy.

myLot reputation of 93/100. bwrattybaby (5226)  5 years ago

Camping is fun but I don't think I would like to do it for the rest of my life. Since I am older I think I could handle it but would get tougher as I grew older and the older I got it would be harder and harder.I do like all of my gizmos gadgets and thingymabobs though. Thanks hope you have a great day/evening.

when i was a kid, i used to watch little house on the prarie. I loved watching how they lived way back then, before we became to materialistic. everyone seeemed to help eachother, and they all worked hard and enjoyed their families. they were broke, but happy. i don't see any broke and happy people today.. they whine about no money, and would rather collect welfare than do anything for minimum wage. things have changed so much! don't get me wrong, i couldn't live back then, with no phone or washing machine, etc...i just think the morals of people were a little better. ,, and in general people looked happier, and lived without antidepressants!! by the way we drive through your area about once a month when we go to arkansas, and i think its beautiful...

myLot reputation of 93/100. bwrattybaby (5226)  5 years ago

Even though our place is way back off the beaten path I love it. Even though if we really need anything we have to go 75 miles to get it, it is so nice not to have to deal with all the hassles of city life.It is beautiful out this way.We have hunderes of dog wood trees out here is beautiful to see them bloom.I am so glad we brought this place. Yes I did too I watched little house on the prarie when I could loved it so much always wanted to live with them. We are not far from the ladies place that wrote those books. I wouldn't want to do without all the moderen conviences either. Thanks hope you have a great day/evening.

Don't be sorry for living in the boonies. The peace and quiet must be quit satifying. That is an interesting piece of land behind your property. But, you don't have to go back 100 years to find similar conditions or worse in the world. Nearly a billion and a half people don't have electricity or drinking water in the world. Not to mention the lack of food and decent shelter. The 1920's might have left America years ago, but they still are being lived out in many parts of the world today.

myLot reputation of 93/100. bwrattybaby (5226)  5 years ago

Oh no I love living in the boonies. The peace and quite it is great out here. I love it.oh yes and thank God I didn't either it would have been harder then. Oh yes I see that on all kinds of programs about those poor people without all kinds of stuff and my heart goes out to them. I really feel for those pepole. Thanks hope you have a great day/evening.

I would love to travel back in time to experience what it was like, but for a limited period only. It would be great to see life from such an aspect, although I would not consider a one way trip to an earlier period.

myLot reputation of 93/100. bwrattybaby (5226)  5 years ago

I would take a trip back if I could come back when I wanted to but a one way trip would not be one I would want to take either. Thanks hope you have a wonderful day/evening.

Hi bwrattybaby, you shouldn't apologize for where you live! I live in a rural area myself with a population no bigger than 1400. It gets boring sometimes, just like anywhere, but it is nice and quiet. For instance, when I go for a walk, people smile and wave and it gives me a sense of peace. I also like the quiet and the family-like environment. Why would you want to live in a crowded city that might have higher crime rates, more pollution, and noise? To each his own, eh? During one of these walks I also discovered an old house. I walked around the property out of curiousity and because the place is vacant. However, I didn't find the cool stuff you did. I think the house is being demolished to put up new property. I think this is sad, because it could be restored and used as a historic landmark to bring more people and revenue to the town. I have also been on these kinds of tours in which they take you through an antique house, and they are awesome! If I had it my way, I would live in a cottage-like house made of wood and the blankets, pillows, and throws would all be homemade by me. I think life is simpler in the ealry nineteenth century before people had to lock their front doors. I know more manual work would be necessary, but then again we would all be in better shape!

myLot reputation of 93/100. bwrattybaby (5226)  5 years ago

Oh no I love where I live it is great out here just 75 miles to the nearest home depot and staples and stuff like that the hospital where my honey will be is there and way too far for me to ask friends to take me up there daily so I can see him.I love the peace and quite. and no noies. You know you can get a loan on a historic landmark if your willing to restore it to its original condition? I found that out years ago. I love the old time stuff I just don't like not having running water when I want it.I have been to the winchester house in CA and boy it was cool the lady had rooms that went no where and doors that opened to no room stairs upside down it was awsome. she was so worried the indidans that her husbands had killed would come back and haunt her that is why she made the house like that. she had one room where the furniture was on the cieling.I love helping my husband build houses and stuff like that. I think the 19th century might have been an experince I could have lived in. But since I have had all these gadgets and things I might miss them. Hard work never hurt anyone. Thanks have a great day/evening.
