The Average Age When People Stop Believing in Santa Clause |
|
I found this interesting statistic.
Age 8 is the average age when children stop believing in Santa Clause.
When did you stop believing in Santa Clause and what were the circumstances surrounding it?
How old were your children when they stopped believing in Santa Clause?

1. Anakata2007 (1427) | 3 years ago | I stopped believing when I was 11. My dad told me there was no Santa Claus. I was devastated. I still remember that. I started crying and my brother laughed at me.

But I get what you're saying. According to your statistic, I am finally above average at something, as I was over age 10 when I realized what was going on.
This is the same age that two of my sons were when they had their awakening. My eight year old is still innocent in this, and his two older brothers work very hard to preserve his innocence.

4. TeresaK (8081) | 3 years ago | I still believe in Santa Claus, and so do my children. See, we taught that Santa is the spirit of giving...giving something to someone that they don't expect, or couldn't afford for themselves, or that they want really badly. So we will ALWAYS believe in Santa, and in being Santa for those around us...as well as for those we don't know!!

| 5. emmiebird (1) | 4 weeks ago | I was 18 years old. I refused to believe that Santa wasn't real. I'd always hear kids say that Santa was your parents, but I just put it in the back of my mind. I didn't want to let go of the magic. The pieces just kind of fell together when Santa, last year, gave me a movie that I saw my mother buy that I asked for Christmas. She made a mistake and had Santa give it to me. I still am having a hard time letting go that Santa is my parents. I still don't want to believe it. Santa made me so happy and made Christmas so magical! I am embarassed to say that I am the oldest child in my family and my younger sisters stopped believing before me. I still am not ready to let go of the magic. Without Santa, Christmas seems empty.

6. kykidd (4555) | 3 weeks ago | It is funny that this discussion was first on your "Discussions I Started" list. I was just watch a repeat episode of Everybody Loves Raymond, and he was thinking about telling his five year old daughter, Ally that there was no Santa. What a coincidence.
I was in the fourth grade when I was told there was no Santa, so that would have made me eight years old. I guess I am just average. LOL
I think that is about the age that my sister told her children, or that they figured it out on their own. However, I don't have any children of my own.
