| 3. Bunny2 (1131) | 3 years ago |  I LOVED this book! Too many people took it literally - it is a work of fiction based on fact. But some of the facts are debatable. Brown cites another book as a reference - Holy Blood, Holy Grail. This does claim to be factual and indeed there is no reason to doubt that most of it is true. I don't see what all the kerfuffle was about. Even if we believe that Jesus was the Son of God, yet a man - why couldn't he have a relationship - he was human. I remember when the rock opera Jesus Christ, Superstar came out there was a huge kerfuffle - my mother took me to see it and I remember telling my teacher at school - a nun - that the show implied there was a definite romantic relationship between Jesus and Mary Magdalene, and she asked me why that would worry me. And why couldn't it be possible. It was the first time I saw Jesus as a human entity as well as the son of God.

5.  steerpyke (295) | 3 years ago |  As apiece of literature its not a great piece of writing, but then Tolkien is regarded in a similar light by the powers that be, but like Tolkien, Bown is a great story teller. This book should be read as fiction, there are many ideas here that have been gleaned from other works, both popular and historical but these ideas can only be viewed as interesting theories, although the Vaticans over reaction to the book might just hint at the fact that they know something that we dont.

There are actually stories that were said to be better in the book than in the movie... Like Memoirs of a Geisha but I don't really know coz I've seen the movie but haven't read the book... But I did agree with The Bridges of the Madison County... It's better in the book... | |

I haven't watched the show in Discovery Channel too. I watched a video but it's also like a review of The Da Vinci Code movie. I heard he have written a number of good books. Before The Davinci code, have you read any of his books? I'm askin because it is also the first and only book I've read that was written by Dan Brown. | |

| spiderman05 (586) | 3 years ago |  When Brown was attacked by the church he insisted that the book was a novel and not 100% accurate. DAC is a bit boring at the beginning, I agree with you. His other book, angels and demons is much more interesting and would have a made a much better movie than DAC.

Personally, it kinda shook my faith at first but now that I learned that the book isn't like what Dan Brown claimed to be, it's kinda disappointing. I guess that's one of the reason why it's rated R-18 here in our country. Because not much of us here have really strong, unshakable faith and something like that may cause confusion or even rebellion to people who wouldn't understand the movie that much. | |

But then again, you must not believe everything that you read. My History of Arts professor pointed out the fallacies in the book... something about the Holy Grail... that the person beside Jesus couldn't be Mary Magdalene, because women at their time do not dress the way men do. You could search that fact up over the internet, if i'm not convincing enough.;)

I've seen people talked about it in the forum but for the first time, I read this kind of comments about the book. But yeah, as a fiction book, or a novel, it was really gripping. I remember myself bringing the book with me to the bank while doing some transactions so I can get to read it while waiting and even read it inside the van while going somewhere. Well, my husbnad is driving so there's not much problem with that. And wow, fourteen hours? That's fast. | |
