Da Vinci Code fiction of not? hint: i think its fiction what about you?

As Dan Brown himself stated in the book, it is a work of fiction and not a real story.
The facts stated themselves are a little twisted and there are a lot of historical errors in the book. However it is so convincingly written that many people take it to be true.

I believe it's fiction... Though like Mr. Brown said, the description of things in the book is accurate...^_^

The book is clearly fiction, however, there are many facts that are historically accurate. My husband has a background in Historical Studies and has done a lot of research on the facts presented in the book. His opinion is that many facts are true but many are twisted to fit the plot of the book.

One does have to realize that the Catholic Church has many hidden secrets dating back hundreds of years and they have participated in many not so Christian events. But I still believe much of the book was twisted to fit the plot.

I couldn't get through the book. I read it mainly because there was so much chatter about it, about banning it. It is a work of fiction. Even though Brown claims the book is highly researched, the main source he used was Holy Blood, Holy Grail, which was originally published as nonfiction. The authors eventually confessed to it being totally made up.
I think banning a book is insulting and causes closed minds. If a work of fiction is banned, like the Da Vinci Code, then the powers that be don't have much faith in their parishners. Doesn't say much for them. I was astonished when I saw all the protesters and Bible thumpers in front of the theatres. They were confrontational, walking up to cars. Doesn't say a lot about those people. The same thing happened with the Harry Potter movies.
