Who to contact when you have been taken advantage of by a debit card company?

I had applied for a debit card account with a company called 1st Debit. I initially opened it and received an email telling me to fund the card with at least $65 when loading my free debit card for the first time and that I would immediately receive free gift and blah blah blah. Well I loaded the card with $75 and waited for my card to be sent to me in 7-10 business days. Apparrently they don't know what happened to the card but I had to call customer service 3 times in order to get them to send me out a replacement which they specifically sent for a Saturday Delivery. I called them to activate my card and they said that the money that I deposited would be made available in the hour. I went to the ATM on 4 different occassions and called them 4 more times and got the run around. this morning Monday March 26 I called them and they said that for activating my card there is a $65 fee for activating my new card. Which is ridiculous it is a stored value card! Does anybody know who you contact when a bank rips you off like this?

That debit card is one I have NOT heard of; I do however use Greendot Financial (www.greendotonline.com) and you can check them out for the services that they have.

I also use green dot. I have three of their cards. No money left on any of them but I also use a company called Only1 and they have less fees and a lower cost. Plus I can get up to four cards for other people and control exactly how much of my funds on account go on which card and I can do it from home. I even get my paychecks deposited directly to my card when I am working.

i am so sorry that you had to go through this and i too would be upset because that is alot of money to me, and that could have paid my electric bill or cable bill or something. the only thing i can advise is to contact the Better Business Bureau about this company.

I would suggest standing your ground with them and continue to call and talke to supervisors and managers only. I would tell them that you are no longer interested in their card and want your money back. I know that the state Attorney General can sometimes help with complaints and you might try to finda consumer advocate in your area one we have around here and I believe he is nation wide is Tom Martino www.troubleshooter.com he helps people who have been scammed. I would have to agree with you that it sounds like you have been taken.
