| | | | | | 1.  SageMother (2093) | 3 years ago |  YEARS ago I had a couple of Tupperware parties but never became aconsultant even though a couple of gals wanted me to. I would make most of my sales after the parties from people who didn't even know I had them...LOL.
I am going to do some of that party stuff when I get some realtime things going for my new business. I figured I would do the fishbowl and business card thing that I see some of the consultants do to get people for sales gatherings.
All of those programs take time and rely on the social aspect of the gathrings to generate sales. It can be a good thing for business networking as well!

I did really good at it, at first, which surprised everyone because I have a natural disposition of being extremely shy and reserved. But, like you, I lived in a small community surrounded by small communities and it was not long before everyone became "Tuppered out" The whole distributership crashed a couple years after I started.
I later on sold Discovery toys, which worked well so long as we were near a military instillation, same with longaberger, which I did not sell, but purchased an awful lot of it. | |

I've thought many times about getting back into the home based business again, but what to sell that isn't saturated? Maybe I'll just stick with my baked & canned goods and just sell at the farmer's market.:)

I have been to Avon parties though, and they are quite fun! I did sell Discovery Toys for a very short time though, and it completely flopped. I guess I never did build up the clientel, and only sold out of catalog. My theory was although the products were good, the prices were just to high.

| Modestah (7932) | 3 years ago | I have never seen or heard of an Avon party. My mother was an avon lady in the 70s and I loved the samples she would get. I agree about the prices being over the top. I guess that is how it is with multilevel marketing though. You get your percentage and the one above you gets a piece of it, and the one above them etc... The good thing about tupperware was even though it was over priced it carried a life time guarantee. I used to buy pieces cheap at garage sale and exchange them for new if they were peeling around the seal or had some defect other than damage by neglect. | |
