Darwin, Australia - An environmental group dedicated to wiping out a toxic toad species that has killed countless Australian animals has captured a "monster" specimen the size of a small dog.
The volunteer-run organization, Frog watch, picked up the 40cm cane toad during a raid on a pond outside the northern city of Darwin.
With a body the size of a football and weighing nearly one kilogram, the "monster toad" is among the largest specimens ever captured in Australia, according to Frog watch co-coordinator Graeme Sawyer. "It's huge, to put it mildly," he said. "The biggest toads are usually females but this one was a rampant male ... I would hate to meet his big sister."Now I don't know about you guys but to me this is really this biggest toad that I've ever seen!

It was on our news yesterday. They joking referred
to it as Toadzilla, after Godzilla. That bad boy
is huuuuuge! I say put a leash on it and keep it
as a pet toad. Only one problem. It has no neck
for the leash.

Unfortunately Cane toads were introduced into Australia from South America. They have become an environmental disaster, a huge environmental disaster. As frogs go these would be the worse, no princes in disguise with this species!

Well, that sounds like he even has the bullfrogs from the US beat by a ways. I would not want to meet him on one of my evening walks.

Wow! I had no idea a toad could be that big. We used to play with them when we were growing up. They were smaller than the palm of my hand. I had no idea they could be toxic or even violent...thus, killing other animals. Suddenly, I am not seeing toads the way I used to.
