Favorite Line from The Green Mile | | There are many good lines in the movie. In the book, the character of Brutal had a lot of good lines, but when the book was turned into a movie most of his best lines were given to the character of Paul. It probably had something to do with Paul being played by the marquee Tom Hanks. But my favorite line is not a Paul line. My favorite line comes from the warden and it's when he comes out on his porch at night when the guards have brought John Coffey to heal the warden's wife. The warden comes on the porch with a shotgun and says this great line: "Who the hell goes there at two-thirty in the goddamn morning?!" This line is also in the book so it is a Stephen King original. Great line! What are some other people's favorite lines from the movie and/or book?

The whole speach about how we all owe a death and that we all walk a green mile but how long it can seem. It's just a beautiful and well written solioquy and it just sticks with me afterwards. The whole movie is great but that one section just lingers even after the movie is done.

The character coffee was a lumbering gentle giant, one who was built like an ox but who was as gentle as a lamb, and that line was what emphasized that this was a man who was anything but what he was accused of. The movie was a brilliant one. I loved it. I have read both the book and watched the movie, and felt that the movie was exceptionally well made. I also liked the last line in the movie, one that doesn't appear in the book. Paul is shown playing with a very old Mr Jingles as he says the unforgettable line "If that man could make a mouse live for so long, I wonder how much longer I will have to live".

It was when they were taking John Coffey out at night to go help the wardens wife and as he passed by the electric chair he said, "They're still in there. Pieces of them. I can hear them screaming". Classic Stephen King that line.
