How much would you pay

I am subscribed to a magazine, the subscription of which is expiring in 2 months. It was subscribed at a 50% discount. Now it's time for renewal, and the price is back to the original, which is almost $10. I find it so expensive to pay for a magazine which I finished reading in 1 day. Why should I continue the subscription, I asked myself. I wonder about other people, will they pay that much for one magazine? I am not referring to journals. Friends, how much will you pay for a magazine, or how much do you think it is a reasonsable amount to pay for one magazine, any magazine? Please share your views.

oops I hope the magazine comes bounded in hardcover made of gold! kidding but on a serious note is it a very informative magazine something that helps you in your career and if it does then I guess I would invest in it even if I finish it up in a day, the returns ofcourse will be multifold. But if it is just a newmagazine or any fluff then I am not going to give it away to the highway robbers! I am switching to a different subscription fast!

Guess it is value for money. If it is hardcover and made of gold, I would gladly continue the subscription for life. Only need to worry if the magazine reach me :P

I don't understand very well what you said. $10 subscription for a year(6 to 12 issues)or for one magazine only? For 6 to 12 issues, $10 is more or less within the appropriate pricing. It is the same thing here in my country. There will be other magazines ranging from $20 to $30 for a year subscription. I normally bought back issues. 3 copies for only $2.

Strange, I haven't heard of a magazine that expensive. Its not worth it. Use the $10 and buy something to fill in your stomach.

If only here we have magazines that cheap :P $10 is for one magazine. The subscription is for a year, which means I need to pay hundred over dollars upon renewal. I am finding it expensive.

I subscribed to a couple of magazines when they offered them at a 50% discount. I cancelled them all except one, when they put the price back to its original one. I just took advantage of the discount only, then once that expired, I cancelled them. I found that I didn't really have time to read them all anyways so another reason to cancel it. The only one I do read is the O magazine.

Same as what I did for the particular magazine. I am cancelling the subscription.

I am subscribed to a reputed weekly magazine that costs me around $20 annually.Even if they hike the price I will stay with it because I love reading it.They offer huge discounts if I subscribe for two o three years and I chose the 3 year option. I think how much I am ready to shell out for a particular magazine depends on how much it's content interests me.If I enjoy reading it and it provides unique content, then I might be ready to pay more. For example , if reader's digest increases the prise by 10% I will still subscribe to it,but if it doubles it's price ,then I would prefer borrowing a copy from my friend :-P PS-Sorry for the late reply, this email had got lost in the maze.

If it is unique, I agree. Perhaps ROI applies? It's allright. It's better late than never :P

I wouldn't pay a cent for the magazine. What can I get there that I can't get elsewhere - and for free? I would suggest you just cancel your subscription and be done with it. :P

I very rarely buy magazines and I wouldn't subscribe to any that I would read in a day. I think $10 is far too much and I would rather spend the money on a good book. I think you should cancel your subscription and if you want a magazine, just go into a shop and buy one. That way you won't be committing yourself to taking out a yearly subscription.

Buying a gift for another is a noble act. At least it helps a pregnant lady and the baby in the womb. A good deed indeed. Thanks for sharing.

I share your views on the magazines, that probably buying a magazine is not worth that much especially as most of these magazines contain stuff which are freely available on the news sites online. So the question that I ask is what is it that the magazine offers which is not available anywhere on the net. If the answer is something worthy of it's prize, then I go and get that magazine, else I don't take it. I find that the internet usually solves most of the things that I need and hence these days I rarely read magazines except when on travel. Cheers! Ram

I don't think so I would pay for subscription of any magazine worth 10$ for 2 months and when I can finish reading the magazine in 1 day. I can pay some 2 to 3$ for a magazine.
