Posting pictures on net... is it safe??? | | Personally i really like photography a lot. I do take many pictures of mine,my family, friends. Photos are always sweet memories and are great to share with. The same way they could be transfered via email or chatrooms or some websites to be viewed or shared. When it come to normal pictures one wouldn't mind. How do you deal with family pictures? Do you think posting them on the internet is safe? These days lot of pictures are being morphed and being misused which brings the main concern otherwise which sharing pictures is a great fun.So what do you people say?

If you register that image with the copyright office within 3 months of publication, you can sue the infringer for copyright violations and court costs. Even if it's not registered within 3 months, you can still sue for basic damages. Either way, you're best to include at least a minimal notice on each picture to indicate copyright. Whether you add in a copyright watermark, or embed the information into meta tags or in IPTC, you should definitely add some sort of notice. If you find that anyone is using your images on the web, you can contact their web host with a cease and desist notice. If you inform them, in good faith, that one of your images is being displayed and violating your copyright, they will most often take the offending site down and contact the site owner. All of that aside, there are many free photo hosts that allow you to password your galleries. If you have any issues with having photos fall into the wrong hands, then I would advise two things. Disable right-click when displaying images on the web so that they cannot be saved (if possible), and password whatever galleries you do publish.
