prices of medicines | | Are the high prices of medicines affected by the research the pharmaceutical company has done or by the marketing tactics they implement so that their product will be known and be used by professional healthcare? I believe these pharmaceutical companies spend big moneys for their representatives promotional budget and the cars they provide as well as the big incentives they receive when they reach their quota. Is it true that the medicines price are really low and marketing makes it expensive or what they call competitive price? I guess the very big budget in marketing the product really affects the price. Do you agree?

When I was a medical representative 27 years ago, there were even companies whose actual cost of medicines was only 10% of their selling price. Most of it go more to product detailing, advertisements and distribution. We once had exclusive derivatives (generics) and supplied raw materials to local companies. Their selling price was lower compared to that we were marketing. The only excuse that could be given was that the local companies were producing much inferior quality products. With the price of medicines, maybe 25% goes to cost and profit and 75% to costs of marketing and distribution. related resource: medical products

haedescanes (525) | 2 years ago | I believe in what you said my friend. Pharmaceutical companies are taking advantage of the people. They know they need the medicine and eventually the people will buy it eventhough it is priced higher compared to the real company price. The price is being driven by marketing and promotions. I was once a medical representative also. The commissions are enormous. How would they get commissions from the associate up to the high ranking superiors if they dont jack up the prices of the medicines? Goodluck peace!
