The rapture | | | | For those of us that believe, this term is used quite a bit, and we are waiting on it to happen........ The Second Coming of Christ will occur in stages. First, He will remove all Christians from the Earth, to protect them. This is called "The Rapture." The term comes from the Latin verb raptare, and the Greek word harpizo, both meaning "to be caught up" or "to be snatched up." Jesus will "snatch us" out of harm's way. 1 Thessalonians 4:15-17[15] According to the Lord's own word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left till the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep.[16] For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.[17] After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. 1 Corinthians 15:51-55[51] Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed --[52] in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed.[53] For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality.[54] When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: "Death has been swallowed up in victory."[55] "Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?" Job 19:26-27[26] And after my skin has been destroyed, yet in my flesh I will see God;[27] I myself will see him with my own eyes -- I, and not another. How my heart yearns within me! My question is this, How would you feel if you woke up one morning and found out the rapture had taken place, and you were left behind? If I am not mistaken, women that are pregnant, and are not ready for the rapture, their babies will go, and they will not. People in your family may be gone, and you are still here. How would this affect you? How would you react? For me, I try to make sure that I am ready, it would totally devastate me if I was one that was left behind, I really do not think I could handle it myself. | | | | | | | | | | Career Training Programs Train for a new career at home with Penn Foster Career School. www.PennFoster.edu

| | That just woudn't be fair with other religions now would it? All the Christians could go to heaven whilst the buddhists and muslims stay here waiting for a devil that isn't in their beliefs? | | | | | | | thowell (2767)

| | People may not think it is fair, but that is what the Bible states, everyone has their own free will, everyone will have the chance to get in, if they do not, and they go by what they are taught now, that is their choice, all I am asking here is, how would you react? How would you feel? How would it make you feel to find out that hey, there was something to this after all? | | | | stacyv81 (2724)

| | Fairness is not the case, the belief in God, and Jesus and the faith you have is what sends you to Heaven. Let me give you a quote from the bible, concerning different religions "I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you by the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel-which is no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to prevert the gospel of Christ. But even if we or an angel from Heaven should preach a gospel other thatn the one we preached to you, let him be eternally condemned!" Galatians 1:6-9 | | | | | MasterTimer (87)

| | It was all apart of his wonderful plan, He gave his Son as a sacrifice for us, so that we can live with him in Heaven. John 3:16 (New International Version) 16"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,[a] that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. | | yes, Before Jesus, people would sacrifice their best animal, such as sheep, to God, for atonement, to prove they loved him enough to sacrifice their best. So, God, sent Jesus to die for our sins, as a sacrifice, hence, he is called, the Lamb of God. He took our sins on his shoulders, and died with them, so we could recieve redemption through him. | | | | | | | Career Training Programs Train for a new career at home with Penn Foster Career School. www.PennFoster.edu | add comment | | | |

| | I hope I never have to find out... but if the rapture were to take place and I was left behind I would try to make sense of it and carry on. I would then wait to be martyred.. I guess there would be a guillotine with my name on it. | | | | | | | | | | MasterTimer (87)

| | My advise to you is 1st have an open mind, then 2nd watch programs like the 700 club, John Hagee, Td Jakes, Benny Hunn, Rod Parsley These are some very good programs that teach you just what God does, and what is expected, it shows you many things about the Bible, another one that is good it Jack Van Impee, he is on tonight on fox at 11:30 or 12:30. He shows you the headlines today, and how it corresponds with the Bible, he will actually give you scriptures in the Bible about what is going on in the world today. Now all these things were predicted over 2000 years ago, and they are happening now, and who can be the one to do that? God, the Bible was inspired by God. And he tells us everything that is going to happen | | | | stacyv81 (2724)

| | I dont know how I would react if this happened to me. As you know from my pm to you I think this could be the case, that I would be left behind. I am not sure how I react because if I see it correct there would not be any option for me anymore to change the situation. | | | | | | | thowell (2767)

| | The rapture doesn't exist. When Jesus does come back, there will be only one judgement day. Those that obeyed Him will go to heaven and those that didn't will go to Hell. The earth will be destroyed and no one will be left behind. There are only two destinations, not three. Once the end of the world comes, there will be no second chances. God gave you your chance to obey Him and if you chose not to, then it's too late. You will not have another oppurtunity to try and set things right. "But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it." Matthew 7:14. If Jesus came back and took all the good people and left the rest, then that would give everyone else the oppurtunity to try again and not live in sin anymore. If this were the case, then everyone would go to heaven. But unfortunately, only a few enter. You only get one shot at this. Once it ends, that's it. You either obeyed or you didn't. Choose carefully. | | | | | | | thowell (2767)

| | The Bible does not use the word "rapture" no, but What the Bible does say means "Rapture" 1 Corinthians 15:51-52[51] Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed --[52] in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. I do believe that this is the last thing that God will do to show everyone he is what he says he is and give others that do not believe another chance, but after the rapture.......it will be terrible. | | | | wertzburg1 (117)

| | God has already proven himself when Jesus died on the cross and rose again. That was it. He does not need to show this again. Those that don't believe will not get that second chance. On the only judgement day, it will be terrible for those who didn't believe. God is patient but when He comes back, He gave you plenty of time. He's not going to give you more. 1 Corinthians says EVERYONE will be changed. It will all happen in a flash of light and then EVERYONE will be judged. 1 Thessalonians says nothing about people being left behind. It's talking about how the people who have already died will be raised again and be judged along with the living. EVERYONE else who is still alive will be lifted up for judgement. Not just the righteous. EVERYONE. No one will be left behind. "But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything in it will be laid bare. Since EVERYTHING will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be?" 2 Peter 3:10,11 There will be nothing left for people to be left behind. All will be destroyed. So on that day, everyone will go to their own destination, heaven or hell. | | | | | | | The Church Jesus Built What happened to the church Jesus began? | | I'm going to get flamed for this one... but... I believe in a higher power. I also see a LOT OF PARALLELS between Judaism, Islam and Christianity... my belief is that the BOOKS WE ARE READING are a HUMAN interpretation of events. Not only were these books written by men in a contect VERY different from our own life.... but they have been TRANSLATED for THOUSANDS OF YEARS. How can you put so much faith in the EXACT PHRASING of the book you are reading? It could have been altered dramatically over time. The bible was originally in Aramaic, which is now a dead language. it was written over 2000 years ago. You don't think there is a possibility things in the bible no longer apply today? or that they are out of context? I can't accept the exact words of this bible over that bible - or even Judaism over Christianity. I have my own set of beliefs... there is a god, and he loves us all, as long as we love and believe in him back. ANY FORMALIZED ATTEMPTS TO DO SO have been created by MAN!!! Formalized religion is a creation from HUMANS, it is NOT a divine right from God. So I place less belief on all of these things. I also do NOT believe that the GOD I love and believe in will leave any good soul behind - no matter what religion. PS - as an engineer and scientist, yes, I can have faith, but I also believe in evolution. and I also believe in the FREE WILL that God gave us. And part of that free will is that we will come to our OWN DEMISE - I do not believe in the rapture. God won't need to destroy life, we're doing a good enough job of that for ourselves... | | | | | | | thowell (2767)

| | I can respect what you are saying, I really can.My belief is that God gives us all the free will to choose him or reject him. And the way we do this is to ask Jesus in our heart and develope a personal relationship with him. In heaven, there will be no "denominations" Just those that have accepted Jesus as their personal savior. God doesn't lie, and he said that if you reject me, you will go to hell. It is not God putting anyone there, it is the person that rejects him. Hell was created for satan and his demons.........not for any one esle, but to stay away from there, we have to do something. There will be no sin in heaven. | | | | cassidy22 (2677)

| | First you say that you believe we have the will to choose how we believe in God, if at all. Then you say in heaven, there will be no denominations. THEN you state that you have to believe in JESUS to go to heaven. That means you believe only CHRISTIANS go to heaven. I think there is room for all of us... Jews, Muslims, Hindus, Buddists... we can't possibly think WE can choose who we think gets in. We can't even comprehend WHAT heaven really is to think we know how to put boundaries on it at ALL... it's one thing to believe in God, or a god of any kind. but stating the belief in JESUS - that's what makes you a Christian. So with that statement you are already excluding anyone who isn't Christian. Do YOU get the right to make that judgement? I think GOD is the only one who KNOWS, and GOD is the ONLY ONE who can judge any of us!! | | | | thowell (2767)

| | I am sorry, but I am not judging anybody, I am just saying what it says in the Bible, it is there in black and white, John 3:16. No there will be no denominatins in heaven, there are jewish people that have accepted Jesus, and many other religions that have accepted Jesus. it is not what I have said, it is what God said, and yes, God will be the one that judges all. Not us, we just pass the word on. | | | | | | | Meet Christian Singles Christian and single? Meet your match! Start your Free Trial today. ChristianCafe.com | add comment | | | |

| | We studies the book of Revelations for 6 weeks with a DR of theology. It was awesome. He is a wonderful teacher. ANd I struggle with the part of non Christians being stuck here. I happen to think our God is full of grace and mercy. Not really sure but I am holding out hope for the lost. Maybe he will offer his word and if they accept it they will be with him. That isn't in the bible but I am hoping. The way everything goes down also depends on if you are post or pre tribulation. It will be a wonderful day. | | | | | | | | | | The Spear Temple's Key [] Blink Past the Blackness -the Temple is Forming; <>/O A New Beginning. cinetemple.com | add comment | | | |
