American Life - at her best, or mis-judged?  

Obviously with so much diversity within one career, it's natural that many people will consider some of her albums to be particularly weak. Specifically, I'm talking about one of her most controversial works - 'American Life'.
What was your opinion of this record?
My problem with it isn't the often-cited "anti-Americanism", I just think some of the things she experimented with (which I have a lot of respect for in itself) didn't work too well at all, such as her cringeworthy attempt to rap on the title song. Its only saving grace was Love Profusion, which I actually think is one of her greatest songs to date, particularly because hearing any acoustic work from her is rare, but this really worked.
