 South Africa have topped the International Cricket Council’s one-day international championship at the annual cut-off date for the first time since the rankings were introduced, edging Australia into second place. The Proteas will receive $175,000 for the achievement, while Australia get $75,000 for being the runners-up. Australia however have the consolation of topping the Test Championship for the same period.

In fact, with both sides finishing on 127 points, it was only when it was calculated past the decimal point that they could be separated, with just 0.1199 of a ratings point being the difference. So I bet on south africa to win the cup.

| 5. ackars (1856) | 3 years ago |  I agree that they are at the top of the cricket now..But we just cant write off aussies..They have been on that top position for long time and just now only lost that position to south africa because of losses they suffered in chappel-hadlee trophie.It was almost their second level players who played there against Newzeland there.All the star players didint played a single match together...That why they lost and dropped in to second place.Look at the way they palying now in the world cup..So I think they are the champions still now..But only south africa and newzeland can give a competition to aussies for the hunt of cup...
